I dont know about a million ,but I know if you put your mind to it you can earn a good living
-
there was an article in the edinburgh papers a few years ago about a window cleaning firm who were the first in edinburgh to make a million.
-
if you only cleaned residential properties only mixed price and the average overall was £10 per property you could do 20 per day x £10 = £200 x 7 days = £1,400 x 52 weeks =£72,800 if you had 6 employees all doing the same then yearlly turnover would be £436,800.00 .So thearetically you could turnover 1,000,000 within 3 years but thats turnover before wages,van expeses,insurances,income tax, etc etc etc etc etc so theres you figures see you back here in 3 years

No.
Try being a stockbroker or a Director of a big corporation.
Not a window cleaner. ::)
-
Phone a friend
-
think big
be big
::) ::) ::)
-
! or 2 have done it , but they were in the right place at the right time, other than that a sole trader if he gets it right can earn more than a firm with 6 employees,
Remember turnover for show , profit for dough,
-
yes you can. i believe one can do what one wants to if they have a tenasity for it,
but with all things theres a cost, and quite frankly is it worth it theres more to life than a million pounds
-
i can afford to spend all the time i want with my kids thats worth millions--time mate not money
-
Can we all stop being philisophical and sentamental and just answer the question. Yes we all know the pitfalls of money just wondered if window cleaning could make you a millionaire and how do you do it?

Yes you can do it.
Go for every job you quote, especially the big ones, undercut all competitors, see them all off, unscrupulously use whoever you can to do the job at the cheapest price, promise to put everything you can right if it goes wrong, avoid spending a penny more than you need to, work all the possible hours you can, put the job before wife and family, get two or three 2yes men" who think the same way as you, and don't stop till you reach a million.
If that's what you want..............

Theoretically it is quite possible. I'm not sure that I would be prepared to make the sacrifices needed to achieve it though.

You get out of your business what you are prepared to put in!
If you plod around all day then no, the million won't arrive. If you race about each and every day then you might just get close.
Whichever route you chose as long as you pay your bills and are happy then what does it matter?

Of course you can make a million from window cleaning, the only ceiling on your earning power is you and that applies in all aspects of our lives. Everyone one allows others or even ourself to put limits on what we can achieve.
My new year resolution was to avoid everyone i knew who continually took negative viewpoints and told me you won't be able to do that or you will lose loads of customers when you switch to wfp etc. why let others rain on your parade because you have the balls to take the risks they would wet their pants thinking about.
Cheers Mark.

Well written Mark.
I had the same thing when I was starting trad window cleaning back in 1991. I had comments like "There's a recession you know", "People won't pay to have that done", "Everybody's at it","What about the Winter?".
A year later, some of the people who said those things were asking if I wanted "a hand" on odd days so they could supplement their dole money. Like he ll they could. No-one was gonna hold my baby. It wasn't much to shout about but I had pulled a living wage from nothing during a bitterly cold Winter in the worst recession in living memory (for most people). I did it by knocking on doors on freezing cold evenings and asking the question. Looking back, my prices were cr*p (but I didn't know any better and I did it without treading on anyones toes too).
I don't know about making a million. There's certainly no reason not to get to a very nice income though. I look at some parts of my business and I'm pretty impressed with what I can earn. I look at other bits and I'm disgusted and wonder why I bother. There's no reason why I can't make all the bits as good as the best bits.
