OK so as an industry waterfed pole window cleaning has not been around long, 20 maybe 24 years,Many on here have been trad in the past many have never "tradded"
I have been WFP for 16 years, do little heavy lifting nowadays but have perminant -light shoulder pain, Recently two established guys I know have sold up, stating physical issues with the work.
Yesterday one of my guys, (hard-working industrious 31 year old, been with us for over 5 years, had 2 days off sick in that time), told me he couldn't do a job because the company have placed heavy bollards across the drive/entrance and he was not prepared to move them because last time he did it aggravated his shoulder pain enough, that he had to see the doctor, who diagnosed an already damaged rota joint, Hes not a moaner and had said nothing just carried on until yesterday,
Given the fact even the earliest pioneers of the work have not had anywhere near a lifetime in the job, is it going to prove too physical and demanding for the body ??
Which means we have to ask the question, is WFP work going to prove too strenuous for workers who want to make it a long term career?
I have had other guys not stick it because of pain issues and a couple more have moaned that there body is "wrecked" by Friday.
Do others suffer from physical issues bought on by the work ?
We shouldn't hide away from this we should discuss.

It's the same for any manual jobs. Many folk get into this game thinking it's a laid back job, but disappear as soon as they realise it it's a tiring job.
As long as you keep fit, warm up properly before starting work, and cool down at the end to prevent stiffness or injuries. Simple disciplines and fitness will help prolong your job.
However, you just never know when the day comes your body is too old to carry on.
