Hi All
Im looking for advice on purchasing a water softner.
Recently moved house and have a TDS of 490ppm, i was previously using 1 Ionic softner but its not enough for my high TDS so need to purchase another to run in tandem at a cost of £300.
Can anyone recommend any alternatives?
Cheers

Also how to regenerate the softener
I have two old di vessels and just buy new resin but not sure how to regenerate the resin

Thats interesting, so you just fill a di vessel with softner resin?
The regeneration of the resin is done by passing a brine (salt solution) over the softner resin to remove the calcium and so regenerate it.

I have had Twintec S4 fitted for many years. Works off mains water pressure not electric fit and forget.
The one before that lasted 12 years and after it failed the TDS coming out of my RO went up from 5 to 20.
I know a water softener shouldnt effect the TDS but it did in my case. Maybe RO was not working as well as it should have been with hard water going through it? I thought I needed a new RO as TDS was climbing
Fell back to 5 after new WS fitted

I found the same Andrew. People say a softener doesn't affect the tds but it does slightly. You can use the bypass valves to test & prove it.

The twintec S4 is certainly a great piece of kit and built to last but not looking to spend that much at the moment.
My TDS out of the RO climbs too indicating my softner needs re-generating.
