Title: Battery for pumps in van. What are you recommending/using?
Post by: AuRavelling79 on July 24, 2025, 04:26:00 pm
So my leisure battery is getting tired. It's lead/acid. I charge it using excess power from my alternator. My van is pre smart alternator and the system works so I am simply looking to replace the battery.

I rarely have both pumps running and am probably now pumping less than 1000 litres of water per week and rarely more than 300 litres in a day.

All comments welcome and hoping for input from the Sprucemeister in particular please!  ;D

Oh yes. I'm the guy who DOESN'T use a pump controller and my current battery is a Trojan 27TMX which I can't remember when I replaced but I think was before Covid!

I think I have a couple of these batteries. Charge them every second night and had them 4 years now. I think it's just your luck with a battery and as long as you charge them regularly they last a long while.

Just drive to Bristol Batteries with your van, show them what's inside and they'll have every battery option available to assist, they'll recycle your old batteries free of charge too.
