Doing a conny roof clean this morning with the scaffold and cleaning the garage door in the process. Will give a heads up later to tell how it went and how easy or difficult it went. Good experience we can learn from if anyone is doing this type of work in the future.

That's brilliant. I've never cleaned a conny roof off scaffold. Let us know how it went.

Any updates on this? Sounds like a fascinating mornings work that nobody on here will have any experience with.

Went great, posted a photo of my scaffold and the height of the platform. Used 2m and 1m frames to give me 3m's in height. Light spray with hypo all over the roof and ends where the dirt runs too. Then scrubbed away with cold water which I find is better when using hypo. Took me a tad over 3hrs so very happy with the result. Any questions then just ask.

I personally have cleaned 100's & 100's con roofs in my long career and have never felt the need to use scaffolding. why??

Law of physics. I'm higher up than the roof so it means I'm scrubbing down the way. I can also have a better view because I'm above the roof. Not much energy needed compared to scrubbing up the way. In the end, it all comes down to what one prefers. I used to use a stepladder but once I bought the scaffold I use it all the time now for conny roof cleans.

I only take on conny roofs that can be cleaned from the ground and are easily accessible. I couldn't be arsed erecting a scaffolding tower! If I'd forked out for one of the those and the hassle of putting it up I'd want a £300 for that roof which most customers wouldn't pay so it'd be a waste of time and money.

Looks like you've taken a sledgehammer to crack a nut approach. I was expecting to see some huge monstrosity of a conservatory to warrent scaffolding. ::)roll

How much did you charge?

That conny roof would take me no longer than an hour to clean. First I would spray the roof with virosol in a backpack and then scrub and rinse with my hot pure(starting with the finials first). I would use my little steps for accessing the part of the roof that slopes towards the house.

I made enough to warrant the scaffold, did a few other things like garage doors and a bit of PVC and Gutters.

Yep, same here but with cold, an hour or hour 15mins max. How long does it take to faff about setting up the scaffold and taking it back down?

Don't use the scaffold for less than 2 ton. Scaffold looks more professional and usually leads to more work.

So you got at least £200 for a small conservatory roof and a garage door, in Scotland, with presumably a Scottish customer............. I nominate you for salesman of the century.
