As most of us drive diesel vans over many years, has anyone had any experience with this diesel emission claim thingy?
I've seen and heard so many adverts about this. But there seems so many dodgy sites wanting so much details from folk.
So is it worth it, and what company have you used to represent you?

I don't really get it. How have you lost out financially if your diesel van or car is more polluting than you were led to believe?
Unless I have suffered some sort of loss I would not claim on principal.
Vehicle manufacturers are under pressure to produce more environmentally friendly vehicles, but it leads to undesirable consequences such as dpf and stop/start technology, and also stretching claims of environmental friendliness of their diesel engines.
If you really want to stop chucking out fumes then buy an electric vehicle.

Never bothered with any of these claims, but if there was a few grand to be had, and the car makers have to pay out, then why not.

We have a vw.
Put in a claim and got £1800.
Not to be scoffed.
The car manufacturer's new what was going on and kept it under wraps.
Darn right fraudulent!

Pretty much most people who live where there is emissions charging zones where actually made to buy these vehicles to avoid the emissions charges ;D They thought they where doing the right thing, and paid the extra wonga to do it too .

Ok so the manufacturers have done things they shouldn't have done
But how has that affected you or got anything to do with you ?
You buy a car and use it. None of it makes any difference to you at all.
It's a claim for making a claims sake, terrible mentality imo no wonder the economy is on its knees it's as bad as benefits cheats.

Fundamentally Govs set the rules that said a vehicle must pass a test, not it must always emit below a certain number when it was driven on the road!
The engineers designed the ecu to detect being on test and adjust the ecu parameters to ensure they passed the test. In my opinion, the engineers did absolutely nothing wrong.
Do you do some basic checks before you take the vehicle to the Mot test? Do you currently drive at all times as if you were on a driving test?
The problem was the Govs decided that they would punish the manufacturers rather than admit they created rules that had huge holes in them.

I think the compensation is that the manufacturers lied about emissions and sold there vehicles knowing the information was false , so they had knowingly falsely advertised there vehicles as being much cleaner than they actually are so compensation is due as they miss sold deliberately to mislead the customers, this is what the service manager told me at the local VAG dealership

Yea that's what I've read during a bit of research too. Manufacturers also hiked the price up on vehicles to cover costs of false components to get the emissions to the better level.
No one should respect the pockets of these manufacturers as they will fleece consumers as much as the can. You only need to look at how many folk have to fight to get warranty repairs done. Not to mention how much consumers are charged for services and parts.
