Happy Easter everyone,
Sorry to ask during the holidays but I would appreciate any help I can get with this.
George worked fine until all of a sudden it started refusing to let me access any jobs with the message “I/O error on mtd file”
I tried shutting down everything and rebooting but that didn’t work.
Tried updating the drivers but still no joy.
So I downloaded George Data Fix from the archived site which one of the members here has very kindly provided the links for.
It worked - up to a point. It’s letting me access everything again but when I try to update I’m often getting this message “key violation due to duplicate record” and when that happens it doesn’t update correctly

I would just uninstall George and then reinstall George. I would then run one of your backup files to the new install. But I would advise using an backup file from a few days ago just in case there is corruption issue with the latest one.
Just run another data fix too to be sure

I have installed the free version of George through the link onto another PC and run a backup into it but had the same problem as before.
Don’t know the free / not free version would make any difference as my original version of George is not the free one. However I can’t uninstall that without a way of getting it back

It's not the free version once you've uploaded your backup file. Once backup is restored is you're registered George.
Make sure you use an older back up file.

If you go into the C drive on your computer, there will be a folder named George. Open that and hopefully you will find copies of the backups you have done previously. (Hopefully you have done backups.)
I have a folder named "backup" but I also have other backup files. They have 2 letters, then 2 numbers, then 1 letter followed by .GEO
Try to use these backups from before the system failed.

Yea it would help to get closure to help anyone else with a similar issue if he bothered to let us know how it got resolved. Not really about the thanks tbf.

My guess is he's sorted or else he'd be back asking questions.

What it does for those of us still using George is to make sure our regular backups are also backed up to a cloud based storage facility.
I use One Drive.
