Title: Which hats
Post by: tlwcs on April 07, 2025, 07:15:43 pm
Are we all wearing?
Caps, buckets or Stetsons?
The top of our ears are vulnerable to getting sunburned if cap wearing
Cheers.

Wide brimmed hat. Like an Australian bush hat.

Oh yes. I wore one in Barcelona in bright sunshine and endured the titters of the locals with the aplomb of an Englishman abroad in the midday sun.

I wore another - with cord attached by my wife and sprayed with tent waterproofer - canoeing on the Spey in 2019.

And last weekend I wore the best of the three walking along the Thames at Reading eating ice cream with my daughter and dog.

They are very versatile. Being a four eyed specify git they keep off the sun and showers while I work.

Still okay after 5 years. It's a lightweight hat to keep the sun off. And light showers too.

I did have four but I dapped one on the top of a wheely bin while I put my prism specs on for some four storey work and left it behind.

I carry two in the van and I put the other one on and forgot about it.

At £4 it wasn't worth driving back for once I remembered.

I used to wear one like that in navy blue with a red star on the front. (Army surplus store)

One customer looked at my chubby suntanned face with bum fluff excuse for a dark goatee beard and said 'It looks like the Japs have arrived!'

If you want to get ahead then you need a nice cap. I get my caps and woollen hats from a mob in Airdrie. £5 a skull and have my name and logo on them.

Ask them if they sell dusters for your computer.
Thanks, but the cap doesn’t cover my ears.

Wear my logo uniform all the time. That's the reason I pick up so much work, I'm a walking advertisement for my cleaning business. 😉

What do you wear when you are repairing fences?

I wear a baseball cap but i have been known when its really hot to put a microfibre on my head then the cap to give it the flappy sides...actully works better with a microfibre towel to protect the shoulders as well. When its hot enough to resort to that all care of looking a plonker goes out of the window.
