Title: Cleaning vomit?
Post by: Dan Williams on July 29, 2006, 08:51:54 am
hello

I got a job the other day in a hotel to clean up someones sick, the manager asked me if I had a special anti bacteria rinse.
I did not, he said he was worried about a virus being spread because it has happen before.
What would I need for this sort of job and can anyone tell me where and what I can use.

cheers

This is basic stuff and every supplier has a range of suitable products available. Just look at a few sites or catalogues.

You have the basic deodourising products which will kill most bacteria. Then there are more specific products which will combat viruses, bacteria and moulds etc. Viruses can't survive long outside the host body and I would think by the time we get to most cleanups there is little danger of viral contamination. This is different to blood though as they can remain virulant in this medium.

Hi

You use Prochem now so a good all round Chemical to keep on the van is Microsan it is an anti-microbial multisurface sanitiser effective against bacteria and viruses., like MRSA HepB and HIV.
I keep thin on the van all the time also a very good all rounder is Mill Kill from the Flood school.
Hope this is of some help.

Also......but not least, simple bicarbonate of soda, diluted in a spray bottle and left to dwell for 5 mins will get rid of the smell where antibacterials may not.

This does work!

Buy a CFR OZONE cc machine like I did, clean and go that`s it.I cleaned a bedroom carpet yesterday
that  was covered in baby puke, combined with the hot weather the smell in the room would turn your stomach.one clean with onestep ms and rinse with the ozone and I`m not kidding you could put your
nose to the carpet and no smell. This was the first time that I`ve had this much vomit on a carpet to test the machine and it was awesome! 8) 8)
