has anyone quit go cardless. ive not got many on gocardless now as i find it easier if customer pays cash or bacs.
-
Same. I started pushing it for a few months got about 50 on it as thought it made sense. But then when the fees went up a few years ago I realised i would be at the mercy of them doing so at any point.
Also I've read of a few instances where the customer has used the direct debit guarantee to claim years worth of window cleaning back claiming it hasn't been done.
Bacs is all you need for a one man band, half an hour of admin once a week isn't a big job to save the fees.
I understand if you have 20 vans on the road then go cardless would be worth the pitfalls for its improved cash flow.

I’m the same, pushed it and got 50 or so on it. I’m down to 4 now. I offered people another year at the same price to change and pay by bacs, all but 4 changed.
It’s a third party taking a cut.

Only the bad payers get put on it, ive 11 on it from all my round. If the window payment gets missed twice in a year then they either move to gocardless or they don't get done. I also add the charge it costs to collect it onto there price.

Never needed it because all I do is post a card and they either pay or they don't. After 2 cleans and no payment I post a card with the balance on it but don't do the clean. Usually they have just forgot and pay up and I clean the next month. Did like DD but now I'm not too sure about it when my van went down. It means you have a duty to clean or send the money back.
In the end, I like posting a card for payment so I got another 5,000 cards made up a bigger size so they can see it. My new size is A6 which is 105mm by 148mm and mostly clear on front so I can write on it, they cost about 3p a card.

I don't use GoCardless, I use another provider. I love it.
If I were to start again today I wouldn't clean a single window without the customer signing up first.

You don't take any money until after the windows are cleaned.

Scottish was saying he liked Direct Debit not GoCardless😉

Cheaper than GC for a better service.
No integration with any of the software providers though so some work involved. Only about 2 hours a month.

I'm mainly BACS with a few cash/card payments on day of clean. It's perfect for one man sole trader window cleaners....I also have a few that have set up standing orders too.
Large window cleaning companies with wages to pay I can see gocardless as almost a necessity for a smooth running business

never thought about putting bad payers on it. i usually just dump them. ill go forward with that. even some who pay bacs sometimes forget or do they. 1 had about 30 now around 14. ive noticed the fees rise from 10 years ago from a few pence per customer

Everyone I've moved over to it have done it without a problem, so it's not that they can't pay, they just must genuinely forgot to do so.

Only put bad payers on GC
-
Stopped pushing a couple of years back after they put prices up massively.
Silly paying more when you have to wait 7 days to get paid and if it fails you get charged to process again.
Much easier with BACS and card payments. Even bad payers are not worth moving over anymore. They are just moved to pre payment only.

Only put bad payers on GC
Better off getting rid of bad payers not putting them on GC

Don’t really see your logic tbh, the bad payers have became really good payers now that they are on gocardless. There’s no need to dump them if they move onto it.

Bad payers are generally problem customers, leave it this time looks like it might rain etc so we would dump and move on , we don’t have an issue with bad payers yes the odd one now and then but usually it’s an oversight .
