Title: Cleaning whitewash off glass

I have been traditionally cleaning a Pub on a holiday park for a few years now and for the first time they have whitewashed the insides of a few windows while they are shut for the Winter.
I will clean them next year and was wondering the best way to clean the whitewash off.

I would have thought, hot water and a scouring pad.
