Next to nothing
With ur tds being so high it would destroy it in minutes
I used to used double di ( 2 x 11ltr vessels ) and tap water was 95-110 and the tds would not last more than 2 or 3 tanks ( 650L )
So I would run it through into the tank regardless of tds then connect a vessel up and run it through the di a second time and back into the tank
It’s an absolute drama

Don’t even bother wasting your time trying to work it out , or even experimenting using resin with a tds that high . You are stuck using yiur RO . My tds hoes from 70 up to 300. When it wants . Summer , winter , changes week by week , doesn’t seem to be any pattern . I just use the RO all the time now . Brings it down low enough to not use resin . Usually down to 3 up to 12 . Just gotta take the hit with my water bill for the time being . Having an extension and new roof , starting in January. When thsts done I am definitely gunna set up to harvest as much rain off the roof and garage . Water bill at the moment is outrageous.

Thanks for your replies
Looks as though I was working it out incorrectly. All good

You must be doing something wrong or had a bad bag.
It should last much longer than that.
My tds goes between 60 and 100. I run a double 11 ltr tds. Once a month I have to change one of the canisters over when the final TDS starts to creep up.

I think I can get 1000 ltres on 2 x double di interchanging them over. Iam going to give it a go 8)

Why would you want to do that? At 350tds your water will eat resin. Unless it's for filling up your tank away from home on the odd occasion?

Well I have tried the 2 x. 5 ltre canister got 500 ltre then went to 07.
Changed them round now got1500. Still on 00
So iam alright with that I am only needing it for backs of terrace houses.

Hello Gents!
Trust you all well and happy new year to you all.
First post here - I am South African running a small window cleaning company in Johannesburg. I was wondering if maybe I could ask a couple of questions here maybe get some pointers from the vets on this forum.
I currently have a filter setup - 500l tank with filters - but I am considering changing over to a resin setup. The 1 guy I have spoken to locally in South Africa, says that its the way to go. What is your viewpoints on this ?
Secondly - where do you get resin from in the UK ? Is it local, or do you import it ?
Many thanks
Warwick

The first thing you need to know is your waters TDS = total dissolved solids , if it’s less than 80 you could just use resin if it’s much more than that you rill need a reverse osmosis set up as the resin won’t last long .
Just by a decent TDS meter they cost around £20 but make sure it’s a proper one and not a cheap Chinese copy as they aren’t accurate.

What are you classing as a “filter system”?
If you mean you have an RO setup then to be honest, I’m not sure why you’d change it; you’ve already invested the initial outlay.
However, I would consider going DI only if you’re paying for water on a usage basis and you have a very low TDS.
Tick both of these boxes and it may be cost efficient for you.
As Splash says, (if you haven’y already) take some readings of your ingoing water and you can then make a more informed decision.

Hi Don Kee
Thanks for the reply and the advise. Yes a reverse osmosis system which also includes a dual carbon filter.
