Title: Grippatank
Post by: brianbarber on December 04, 2024, 07:36:47 pm
Cable wired in over a moving suspension part ….

Despite asking Oliver to come to fix this and him saying I must travel to Cambridge to put right a dangerous fault as this wiring error, he refused my suggesting my van mechanic re route this correctly
Just lucky my guy spotted this
System fitted brand new van in 2019
I just find this level of poor service unbelievable.
They could have pooped to my house to fix this but flatly refused.
I am getting my mechanic to do this at next service .
He has said he won’t pay if I do this .
I’ve recommend him to 3 guys who all bought complete system sand this is my thanks

When did it happen, in 2019? I got a system fitted in Cambridge and Oliver came up to Glasgow
3 times to work on my system. He was saying they have moved into a big new unit and they are doing great. They do alot of insurance stuff by renting out fully kitted vans until the customer's van is fixed. When I buy a new van then I'm going to get Grippa to swap them over, always willing to help me I have found out.

How can they call that a professional fitting, it's shocking and a potential fire hazard.

Glad I do my own so the work is safe.

I had a diesel fuel leak which my mechanic sorted for me. He said the pipework was less than ideal fitted by grippatank.

I had a new burner fitted after 3 years and the boating yard changed some pipework inside the heater cabinet because a hose was bent causing the burner to coke up prematurely.

I also changed some fuse holders and fuses myself a few years ago.

Other than that my heater has been very reliable used day in/day out for 7 years now.

I must admit that looks dodgy....

The day after I drove home from having my system fitted in Dec 2017 grippa made a 340 mile round trip because my heater wouldn't work with my engine off(something to do with the fuel pick up pipe on particular ford vehicles).

It was a massive oversight on their part and would of been costly for them. They then drove my van all the way down to their workshop to fix it while I used their courtesy van for a few days.

The very nature of installing a hot water system into a vehicle will always cause some teething issues but I bet grippa always check their hot water systems work with the engine off as standard procedure now!

Thought you had the Pure Freedom heater Daz, what made you choose Grippa over Pure Freedom, when your heater has to be replaced who will you use next time?

Oliver was going through a hard time fitting the diesel heaters. Don't think he understood that all vehicles will be slightly different. In the end it has came good with over 10yrs experience and all the teething issues well gone. I have met Oliver about a dozen times and will always standby him because he has never let me down. Handy to know if one has a problem, just send a photo or video and he will put you right at no charge.

What are you up too? The install was 2019 and you have left out all the facts. What's happened in your business to find a fall guy, well company?

I'm confused.

Aye you saying it's been like that for 5 years?

Did it pass an MOT like that?

P.S. I wouldn't want them pooping to my house!

Because his mechanic has only recently made him aware of it?
When you climb back out of  Oliver’s hoop you might be able to see that the install, whether it was carried out in 2019 or yesterday, is absolutely shocking

I chose grippatank because they integrate the heater into the vans diesel tank.

I didn't fancy having a separate tank in the back of the van. Pure freedom have a separate tank.

In future I'll probably go with Pure freedom hot system because my next van will be electric and I'll need a diesel tank in the back.🙂👍

I fully expect my van and heater to last another 5 years at least yet.

Don’t think he was aware it was like it until a garage pointed it out to him . Then they aren’t really interested in doing anything about it , think he’s saying it’s poor customer service

You missed the part of the story where you were paying him £600 for a service each of those times. He doesn’t come because he’s your mate or even because he wants to give you good service. He comes because you’re paying him. You’re essentially the same as the fella who ends up believing the only fans girl loves him 😂😂😂

Well you can say what you like, we all make mistakes. I'm standing by Oliver because I came into this game with nothing, no experience as I am a joiner by trade. Okay he made a mistake but no faults came of it or it would have been flagged up earlier. His business is booming and so is mine, every time I had a problem, I emailed him and he told me what to do, free of charge. I understand when something is new then through time things will get ironed out.

There isn't many installers who do a Webasto hot water system so we have limited choice. I never burn bridges because I may want to go back over it. I make over a grand a week and that's all thanks to Oliver at Grippatank so I must applaud the guy. 👍

In life when one is starting a new business it is hard because no one really wants to help you and its the same with Oliver. I could have went down Your road and lambasted the guy but where would that have got me? But I decided to work with him, form a relationship with him and it has paid off big time.

You know my father owned a hotel and my mum ran it. She made him the richest man in Paisley in the 1980's and it all came from building relationships even when its not going our way. There is half a dozen on here that can't go back to Grippatank and Oliver doesn't want You back so you have burned a bridge. As you grow and mature you will realise your business connections are smaller and it all comes down to Choice, you must try and forgive someone that makes a mistake rather than try and ridicule them because it just comes back to haunt you.

I only try and help people all my life but I am ridiculed, violently opposed and finally accepted as self-evident.

If this wasn't the case then why are Oliver and I doing so well? fwiw

If this wasn't the case then why am I doing so well? You can't argue against results. I have had people calling me and asking what I'm doing to get the money coming in. It all came to advertising at a ton a month. I would get one customer in a scheme and slowly get another and it just built from there. Now I don't even need to advertise so less out going and more income. 😉

i have to say although stream line is 6k for there 9.1kw heater to be fitted they had my van in and wouldn't let it out the work shop till it was fully tested i had a temp gauge break and phoned them they said pop in as soon as you can and we take a look it was replaced there and then no issue i can 100% recommend them  :)
