Title: Self emptying wet vac
Post by: Andy Foster on July 28, 2006, 03:30:35 pm
Hello there

I would like some advice on where I can source a wet vac that has a pump in it to empty it automatically.

Can I use a second hand machine and have a pump fitted?

If anyone has one of these available or knows where to get one I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks

Andy

Andy, what are you going to use it for? Numatic do these machines, they are not cheap and to be honest I prefer the manual dump as the auto pump out can clog regularly if your sucking up silty water.
Not something I'd really mess about with on a DIY basis, water and electricity don't mix.

I have a pressure washing business and have a flat surface cleaner with a vent to attach an exhaust pipe to. I need something to suck the water up as I go to recycle it and so use less water.
As there is such a large volume of water coming out, I need the sucking device to empty as it goes otherwise I will be stopping every 5 minutes.

I was advised to ask on this forum as apparently, these are the kind of machines that you guys use for carpets.

Good point about the DIY bit although I wouldn't tackle this myself!!!  :D

Yes the vent is designed to be attached to a wet vac or truckmount. However I don't think you could recycle this water. The filters required to remove the particle size to prevent damage to your pressure washer pump would clog almost immediately.
