Did house today I've been doing for 18 months....also did their previous house.
Pulled up today, she saw me and opened the garage as pre arranged.
Started on fronts and noticed two trad lads further down road.
One strolled up and said " we did this house not 30 minutes ago"........I told him I'd been doing it since they moved here....he said so have we her husband is a friend.....he said she just paid me for today and one up front.....I said she paid me last time for this one.....we both laughed and he said there not exactly skint shrugged his shoulders and went on his way.......when I got round back she waved to me through kitchen window.......some strange people........oh and we both texted them last night for access.

20+ years ago I had exactly the same thing happen with an antique shop I used to do.
I simply stopped going, it just seemed ridiculous.

I would of informed the customer of what just happened. Something seems odd.
I had a customer who tried to pay me 5 times while doing the job. Gave me the money on arrival. Then kept popping out asking if she had paid me...
I alerted her neighbour ( who is a good friends with the customer).
Sadly she passed away shortly after.
I know we are just window cleaners, but we still have a duty of care to the public.

Assuming the trad cleaner was telling the truth, it does seem really weird. It'd be odd to have two different cleaners coming weeks apart, let alone on the same day. If it is all legit, maybe the husband just wants to help out his friend who may have a new business and needs the work. Possibly he's just being nice even though they already have a window cleaner really and don't need the trad guys.
The only thing I have which is remotely similar is that I do a customer's inside windows on an 8 weekly basis. They then have another window cleaner (who I've never actually seen) who does the outside.

They both have full use of their faculties.....he owns his own business and she works for NHS.......they regularly pay up front up to 2 months in advance.....no reason to doubt the trad guy he thought I'd taken on a new one and had got house number wrong.

Didn’t you notice any soap suds coming out of the window seals? Or perhaps it was wooden windows with no rubber seals?

No I didn't and I was deliberately looking this time......have no reason to believe he was lying though.....he even knew the guys name, said he was a friend.

We have an old dear on the books who only has the upstairs done by us and has her old trad guy do the downstairs (She doesn't like him climbing on the false roofs), It's sat between two more jobs, no need to move the van and she pays cash on the day, Everyone's a winner. :D

What makes you think that? Of course it was and it was the cleanest white door in the scheme so it goes to show it works.
If I could make the doors sparkle like a diamond then I would do it every time. Knew a guy who was a magnet to women (so he said) and everything in common with Mickey Rooney. He said women love things that sparkle and like to keep things clean. These words have stuck with me when I began window cleaning. Men on the other hand don't seem to bother if something doesn't sparkle and has a bit of dirt on it.
Just read that the Amazon guy bought his girl friend a 30 caret engagement ring didn't even know you could get a 30 caret diamond. 🤔
