Weather is horrific today, its a write off
These are the days that annoy me, mid week ones where i want to work but the weather is just daft.
Nothing to do apart from doss around the house or go mooch round the shops, done a couple hours on my accounts this morning but fed up of that now.
What to do, i just want to go to work, get done and have friday off instead im looking out the window :'(

Pressure Washing is ideal for days like these because the ground is nice and soft. One is going to get wet anyway. Visit the bank and deposit real money, coins and notes. Visit the mechanic and nip his head about things. Go and price jobs like first cleans and add-ons that I do. Do inside work like painting. In the end I see work, any work as earning money and happy to oblige.

Don't have any pressure washing to do or I would have.
I clean in rain but I draw a line at torrential bouncing off the sills rain can't turn up to a customers house and keep a straight face when it gets that bad ;D

I went for my haircut at 9am.i was at my first job of the day at 10am.it was raining yes but it had dried up by lunchtime....
The sun came out this afternoon and it was hot!🔥
All scheduled work was completed by 3pm.
And yes I'm having Friday off....😎

Wrote up RAMS for 2 new commercial contracts.
12 invoices created and emailed
Paid van tax (£335 :o )
Booked mechanic to delete Adblue on van
Got van insurance renewal
Chased payment from 2 jobs
Couple of tweeks to my website
Ordered some new workwear with new logo
Kept me busy from 8-11am then went out and cleaned an office 11-2 and still earned more than your £250 Daz ;D
A good productive day overall.

I've never had to do a RAMS for any commercial job and I've only been asked for my PLI once in 31 years!😂
I've got 5 large houses and 4 commercial jobs to clean today.4 invoices and 5 slips created last night(took 5 mins)and invoices will be emailed after work....

Cleaner planner has been a massive time saver(along with electronic payments)over the last 10 years or so...
It takes me literally 30 mins a day admin(printing slips,emailing invoices,chasing debts,etc)the phone app is easy for updating expenses, updating payments,etc
I think I'll have more to do when MTD is implemented though as my accounts need to be entered into government approved software every 3 months...🙄

I have a Ltd company and Its tax return time. I don't do any bookkeeping through the year but usually spend about 8 hours total sorting everything out end of year to send to my accountant. I like to get all my income and outgoings reconciled up and get all my receipts together. I pretty much work out my own tax before I send it to them.

Why can't you start at 11 or 12noon?you can still get 4 or 5 hours work cleaned(which is a normal day for me these days)
I do this on the odd occasion for whatever reason(weather,doc or dentist appointment,etc).
It's your mindset that you need to change....

Ah right...
I'm a sole trader and do my own tax return.its very simple for me.all my receipts and end of year accounts are in separate folders for each tax year.
All I need to do is input total turnover and expenses for that tax year.
Filling out my tax return and submitting it only takes around an hour every year..

You’ve answered your own question here then Daz. You do 30 mins admin a day, I do 2 hours admin a week.

Handy when one has over 200 customers a month. I'm slowly getting to that figure and may need to think about changing my business. I am already starting to dump hard cleans and folk who mess me about with payment. I never thought it would happen to me but it all comes down to law of large numbers.

I'm a morning person . I like to be up out and done and home by 1.
I dunno I just can't be working till late in the afternoon by 11am I ain't got the motivation, I just don't want to ;D
I'm not working Friday sod that I'll just take the financial hit not that arsed about money to work Friday I've already planned to go fishing.

Aye fly fishing mate. I fish mostly on the river for browns and grayling, the odd time i will use the worm gear if ;D ;D the river is a bit out of sorts ;D
I used to do a lot of stillwater fly fishing but got a bit bored with catching stock rainbows ::)roll

IMO you can't beat an afternoon gym session(around 3pm)after getting 2 good meals in.im usually at my strongest in the afternoon on days I don't work.💪

Another great job to do when its raining is clearing out Gutters. I had a big Victorian Villa to do this morning and because it had been raining it was the easiest I have done with the Vac. So will be keeping this in mind when i do the church, hall and house soon.

Where i differ from you and perhaps a lot of people is i dont simply chuck receipts at my accountant and let him sort them out.
My process is simple as follows:
1. Download company bank statement and put into an excel spreadsheet
2. Make a note in a column of what all outgoings are for and find/download the relevant invoice for each expense
3. Put all invoices and paper receipts safe in a folder
4. Send excel spreadheet to accountant which he uses to calculate my tax return he doesnt need the invoices or receipts
I then use the spreadsheet to work out roughly what taxes i owe myself to see if it matches with what my accountant tells me to pay. If its vastly different either he has done something wrong or i have misuderstood something and so learn.
Ive pulled up accountants a couple of times on discrepancies with accounts, my previous accountant didnt put the interest on my van finance through and my current one calculated my P11d wrong and they are chartered....if i didnt take an interest and know a bit about taxes i would just blindly have handed over more than i have to.

You make it sound so complicated!
I don't do any of that.i simply print off my end of year accounts(turnover,expenses)and input it into my online tax return(cash basis)
Each end of year accounts are then filed in each tax year with all receipts for that year.thats it!
I collect all receipts throughout the year and keep them in a folder as I go along so I never have to sort them out!

HMRC tell me how much tax and national insurance I owe based on my turnover minus expenses

IMO you can't beat an afternoon gym session(around 3pm)after getting 2 good meals in.im usually at my strongest in the afternoon on days I don't work.💪

Are you a LTD company? How much is your accountant charging you?
Agree with Daz on this one, you’re well over complicating a very simple job…

Ive pulled up accountants a couple of times on discrepancies with accounts, my previous accountant didnt put the interest on my van finance through and my current one calculated my P11d wrong and they are chartered....if i didnt take an interest and know a bit about taxes i would just blindly have handed over more than i have to.
I would immediately get a new accountant.

I bet a chartered accountant costs at least £700 a year too...
If your a sole trader working on your own (and under the VAT limit)and using round software like CP,squeegee,aworka,etc self assessment is a relatively simple process to do online.no need for an accountant at all.

I do work for two young accountants. I just ask them if I can use my business bank account and would the taxman be happy with that. I usually pay more than I need to pay just incase I get a pull. Might sound strange but balances itself out as I use my van for some leisure time.
