Post by: tonyoliver on June 01, 2024, 08:10:18 am
I have a job on a main road wooden frames in good condition but sandolin stained when ever I clean them the water spots
tried fan jets soft brush  hard brush low pressure higher pressure rubbed hard rubbed rubbed soft  anyone know the best way of getting these done  without going trad ? Anyone What’s the science behind this and alloy frames not coming up well the painted frames  clean up a treat it’s just the stained ones that don’t   Pays too well to give up but not enough to wear myself out rubbing them with a scrim cloth !!

I used to have one like this - the only way was not to touch the frame at all with water as it would spot I would stop the bristles about 5 mm from the frame - I could do it - but the staff just couldn’t/wouldn’t and in the end dropped the job - otherwise it’s trad

Had a few like this over the years and have treated them as Smudger does.  I also explain to the customer the problem we have with old wooden or stained frames, and often their response is, "Don't worry too much mate as long as you keep them reasonably clean I'm not too worried." Then I just do the best I can in the time allotted and don't overly worry about it.
