Title: EZ snap / Rectus protection
Post by: KS Cleaning on November 01, 2023, 11:37:27 pm
Can anyone recommend a product to protect EZ snap fittings. I’ve just  swapped back to EZ snap from Slick 2 Connect and hoping to find something suitable to protect them from damage.

I’m still using those little spongy practice golf balls. Cheap on ebay too.

These provide clearance from the ground.

The Tuff Connect has been great for me https://www.rootek-designs.co.uk/product/7457256/tuff-connect
Plus they do a hoseless kit that also works very well.

Get them on ebay. Just drill a hole in them.

Thank you for the reply’s. In true CIU fashion, despite making copious amounts of money each day cleaning windows, I think the Tuff Connect products are a bit on the pricey side for what they are……so protecta balls it is😉

Lol they aren’t expensive, and will save their cost in the extra life you get out of a fitting before we used them we were changing fittings every 2-3 weeks now they last at least 15-24 months . Do you use a univalve ? If you do then you can afford one of theses 😂😂😂😂😂

Same with a protecta ball if fitted correctly, if fitting can't come into contact with ground it can't get damaged .

I also use the correct size jubilee clip to attach to hose reel hose as they last longer than o clips and can be loosened off sprayed with WD40 and re tightened when you change rectus fitting.

We didn’t find a protector ball accomplished anything, it still allowed grit to get onto it and cause damage the  tuff connector prevents any contact with the ground or dirt getting into the fitting at all , much better and the balls catch on the slightest thing and jam up , the other connector does get  caught on stuff but no ware near as much

But they are heavy and bulky and an ugly fitting , the 21 is a much nicer fitting to use

Have you got any pics of the tubeless system from rootek ?  is it better than the exceed one?

I didn't like the look of the new exceed one with the tail that pokes out your pole.

We use the rootech ones they are very good the latest exceed ones are hideous with  the hose tails sticking out of the pole .

What are the main advantages of going tubeless? I take it you would then need to have a certain amount of pole hose on your reel so when you extend the pole it’s the pole hose going  inside the pole and not the minibore/micro bore?

I have 30 metres of microbore and 100 meters of exceed pole hose. Tubeless. ( rootech)  Makes working so light. The exceed hose will last a couple of years.

Correct - the main advantage is when disconnected from the reel you don’t have 10 meters of pole hose to deal with - makes storage of the pole better

So I’ve watched the video on how to fit the tubeless kit, seems straightforward enough but what are the spacers for? If you use a Univalve do you fit the spacers evenly on either side of the Univalve? so half of them towards the gooseneck and half of them towards the base of the pole?

We have 25 meters of pole hose attached to the hose reels and then the fitting plugs into the pole with no hose on the pole (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1699103262_IMG_1452.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1699103263_IMG_1454.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1699103263_IMG_0247.jpeg)

The spacers are to make the pole hose more rigid and hold it in place when you are connecting.

So I would need to have a rectus 21 female on the hose reel in any case to join to the 30m or so pole hose. How does reeling in go when the rectus fitting is protected with a protecta ball or similar?

I use one of these: https://www.rootek-designs.co.uk/product/7457256/tuff-connect or a slim version https://www.rootek-designs.co.uk/product/4929338/recprotek-slim-tough-protection-minimal-size to protect the rectus 21 and it reel in no problem even through through floor rollers. The only thing to watch is when holding a cloth and reeling in the connector can catch your hand and pull it into the reel if using an electric reel.

We use these to join microbore to pole hose and they go through the rollers fine again they are rootech (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1699117240_IMG_0023.jpeg)

why not just use a step down hose tail ?

clamped with either o tip or a jubilee  - no need to have another disconnection point

I tried them in the past and found they cut through the hose going through the floor rollers if metal and if using plastic ones they broke easily

No, not if you just use pole hose.

I would be frightened that the pole hose would be a trip hazard as it doesn’t lie flat on the ground like micro bore

WCW do a protecta pod. The capsule type cover fir the rectus 21, £11.95 inc vat. I prefer them to the 3D printed pods, the WCW are little more robust.

https://windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk/products/21-pods?variant=40414749818940

Available in 6mm and 8mm.
