Would a Gardner backpack pump have enough power if I attached it the the end of a 100m reel?
-
not sure about that but a 100mtrs is a long way for such a small pump

Hi Craig, the pump may work to start with but it won’t be able to cope with this for long and will burn out.

I've done this before and it did work fine for a good while.
I just removed the water container from the back pack and attached the water tank outlet and the hose reel inlet and kept the base of the back pack complete so I could use the built in flow controller.
Another benefit in the winter was you just disconnected the whole unit and put it in the house to charge up like using a pump box.
No freezing problems.

This is what I was considering doing. I want a van system but wanted to do it bit by bit and thought this might be an easy way to start.
Having said that. I do think the flow controller on the backpack is on its way out!

Probably the easiest way to start especially if funds are a bit tight.
You could just replace the flow controller and be good to go.i had 100 mtrs of microbore on the reel and worked up to three storey and it was fine, obviously you won't get the flow pressure or volume that you would from a 100 psi but it's acceptable.

It’ll work fine. Done this for a few years. Rip off the tank and you have yourself a pumpbox.
