Title: 150psi pump
Post by: G & M on July 25, 2006, 12:18:10 am
need a bit of help guys
we bought a 150psi 1.5gpm shurflo pump with the intention of running two poles off of it  however it is too powerful and causes leaks. It wont work with a variflo either. Is there any way we can reduce the pressure and increase the flow?

Looking foward to your ideas -Michael -G&M

you can turn the pressure down by turning the allen key screw on top of the pressure switch anti-clockwise, I think its about 60psi per 360degrees.

don't quote me on that though, give dominic at williamson pumps a call

number is 0845 226 36 38

Turning the pressure switch on the top will just make the cut off switch off at a lower pressure. If you dont mind the pump running all the time (it will have a shorter life) then just TEE in  a tube with a valve connected from the outlet of the pump back to your tank. You can then divert excess water & pressure.

this will just be a simple bypass valve, which will half the pressure

if you fitted a gate valve or it, you could adjust the water output to suit your needs (i.e 70 % etc etc)

a pic of the by-pass gate valve is on the DIY site, i cannot post a pic here as the pic has the URL on it, and its against the rules
