Just had an email that GC are changing over to a plan system. We have to choose between 3 plans. They are recommending me the middle advances plan which has a small hike in fees, charges for refunds and failed payments.
We are now going to be charged when we process the payment rather than on payout.
Thoughts chaps.
.......
We are writing to let you know about upcoming changes to your GoCardless pricing plan.
We currently offer three core pricing plans: Standard, Plus and Pro. Based on extensive research on customer needs and feature use, we’re replacing these with three brand new pricing plans called Standard, Advanced and Pro.
What’s changing
Standard, Advanced and Pro each provide different levels of access to bundled products and features. Some features which were previously add-ons or unavailable to you are now included within the bundles, giving you easier access to the resources you need.
We have created a PDF which you can download here which contains full details of the new pricing plans. Some of the key changes are referenced below.
Each plan is priced differently, with its own domestic and international transaction fees and caps. The full details can be found here.
In line with the new plans, we have updated our standard terms and conditions which you can view and save here.
There are no monthly fees to access Standard, Advanced and Pro plans. Instead, a select number of optional individual features and add-on services will have separate monthly costs, making it easier than ever for you to customise your plan.
Instead of charging successful transaction fees, we are now moving to a submitted payment fee - this will mean you are charged for each attempted payment collection including failures.
Ancillary fees (these cover refund, chargeback and failure fees) may vary depending on your registered country within your GoCardless account.

Why people sign up to this is a complete mystery to me you are being held to ransom by some 3 rd party as to how you run your business and being ripped off on every transaction. Get them on BACS it’s free and never any issues .

Yea, agree. It was good when it first started out, but now it's more expensive than taking a card payment. Still worth moving those slow payers over to it, but that's it for me.
-
There's a fair few on here that were praising it and got their whole round signed up to it....
Sod that!! ;D
You can't beat Bacs it costs nothing...even with Go Cardless if they don't want to pay they won't and just cancel.
-
Glad i never pushed more customers onto it. I knew when they did the last price hikes that this could be a problem going forward completely at their mercy.
Ive always said its not needed for a one man band but i can see the benefits would out weigh the cost if you had 10 vans on the road, i wouldnt want to be chasing up thousands of payments manually every month.
-
How intigrated is BACS with cleaner planner - or any other software?

With an average three failed payments a month from seven full rounds, I'm not sure that we're going to be bankrupted by being charged per submission rather than per payment (probably a couple of quid a month). Also, we'll stick on the basic plan (no price increase) and manually resubmit.

No idea we don’t use any app based program s

Squeegee has bank reconciliation for BACS payments. Cleaner planner does not.
-
So you have no intigrationwith bacs - surely that’s a fair bit of your time checking payments

My wife does it she’s very quick and proficient with it , she also has some app on the phone that tells her when someone has paid and just crosses it off the outstanding payments list doesn’t take long at all .
-
fair play if thats the case - I'd rather the thing be done automatically
just a secondary thought - if you have a business account are you not having to pay for transactions like BACS?

Obviously got a business account but BACS transactions aren’t charged for .

It's not needed for a one man band.it takes 5 mins a day to check my bank account on my phone then update cleaner planner (again on my phone) at the end of each day.its a doddle and no extra charges.🙂

BACS transactions are free. Spend about an hour at the end of the week marking off payments, chasing anyone overdue, and putting together next weeks worksheets.
-
So BACS isn't free - its an hour of your time - and current willy waving posts indicate thats £60 P/H
or even at minimum wage thats costing you £10.50 + pension etc...
Darran

Well I've made the decision to stop pushing GC and move to BACS and card payments present and online. Will now only use GC for those slow player before dumping.
GC keeps upping fees now and takes a week for payments to land. Card payment are with me next day.
As for failed payments, customers will be given the option to pay by BACS without penalty or have the payment retried with charges added to it.
Will be slowly moving trusted GC customers to BACS.
At the moment only about a third my domestic customers are on GC anyway.

That’s not 1hr on BACS payments, that’s 1hr on all admin and book keeping for the week.
Nothings free if you put it like that.
BACS payments do not incur a charge from my bank, unlike cheques and cash, which are charged above a monthly amount, or card payments and gocardless. All business’s require admin, that’s why I charge £60 an hour when I’m cleaning to cover that time.
-
Correct nothing is free - never kid yourself your getting something for nothing

Only accept bank transfer and cash but get very few cash payments these days. Bank transfer works so well and it's free!! Property name as reference terms 7 days residential 14 days commercial jobs a good un, credit control via email and telephone bad payers get dealt with Sharp and very rarely lose payment.

But the wife isn’t earning £60 per hour like already mentioned admin is always going to be needed the bigger the business the longer it will take but checking off payment s is a very quick process.

Read the post - I did say paying wages @ minimum wage etc..
but i'm sure you will tell me you don't pay the wife.
thankfully we have choices - those that want to use bacs and then do admin and those who like the fully automated go careless approach
all depends on your mentality regards time/money balance

Also I always reconsile the GC payments too, so no time saved really for me. Always worth checking in case there is an issue. I remember someone on here a few years back who had just realised one of his clients payments never went through which meant a years worth of free cleans had been done.
I can't rest my mind if I just leave it to it's automatic devices.
-
well your talking about 30 - so I see that there is no real issue - either way

Each to their own but I'd rather not have a third party company taking a cut of my hard earned money thank you very much!😉

Exactly Dazmondo. All small businesses do admin etc. I do mine when I get home and I know it's all up to date. I couldn't bare doing it all in one day on a Friday though.

So are you saying that there is no admin with your business?.. doing quotes, keeping records , tax ,vat, rams , insurance and so the list goes on , sorting out who has paid and who owes and crossing that off a list is just a few muinits per week with hundreds of jobs per week . You still need to keep an eye on go cardless payments from what ones who use it tell me ,my website manager uses it and says it’s not fool proof.

You do tickle me sometimes NWHmond ;D

Go careless is great but bacs is free and with squeegee I can reconcile around 120 transactions an hr which seems to work out cheaper than gocardless fees at the moment until the bank start charging per bacs payment which some already do
