Hi I'm a regular visitor to the forum, but I've noticed it's not as busy as it used to be,is it due to time of year in everyone busy doing extra work ? Or enjoying the summer sitting in the garden ?
Or have people moved on to different pastures ?
-
That becasue theres lots of lurkers but not many regular posters

I think it always goes a bit quiet in summer, especially when the weathers good. Nothing to moan about. :)

You've made 3 post since the 17th May.
I'm just saying it's quiet because no one joins in but a few regulars.

Yes I get that, but there used to be people whe were on here regularly that have disappeared eg Alex gardener, also there is a lot less activity,

People move on - to be fair there's not much new happening in the world of window cleaning - not like when I joined - DIY WFP - Alex just getting into making great products - gutter vac's etc....
We also suffer from the "troll" - most threads are ruined or hijacked with the same useless posts/posters - so its not surprising decent topics have dwindled

What happened to the guy who started DIY WFP? I can't even remember his name. Tosh was also a regular poster on that forum.
I remember once he (not Tosh) got a planer or angle grinder and drill to a Vikan Oval to shave weight off of it. He succeeded, but it looked awful. I couldn't see myself doing that to my Vikan brushes.

The forum is an outdated medium as well these days. Particulary this one ;D
The fb pages are more popular (as well as more modern forums) because replys are instant and you get notifications when someone is talking to you directly.
On here you still have to post a thread with F.A.O to get someones attention, there isnt even a pm function :o its like being stuck in 2003. No wonder people have moved on.
-
To be fair, it’s amazing it’s as busy as it is when we’re all window cleaners, cleaning windows, day in, day out.
Somehow we strike up relevant conversation.
-
Matt - he started his own forum - was pretty good for a while

How long do you think CIU will last before the plug get's pulled?? I reckon some posters on the non-cleaning section are quite obsessive posters and will probably have nervous breakdowns when it finally goes. ;D

It's good fun but it does go too far, at times.
I'll have to start fishing in real life instead of fishing on the other side.
I can't wait :-\.

You don't have to.
You did want the job though. You were very keen to be a mod.
Probably so you could learn to post in a Geordie accent ;D.

Nothing lasts forever and all good things come to an end

You think this is quiet? You need to check out the rug-munchers side of the forum.
-
Who do you think will be the very last person to ever post on CIU? I Reckon it'll be Dazmond.

A record week followed by tumbleweed.

729 guests and 28users in stats. ......... Don't be shy guests, try posting an introduction or watch this space disappear in time.
Facebook is full of wannabe window cleaners asking stupid questions and getting slagged off rotten for asking dumb questions, at least it's more civilised on here.

‘More civilised on here’
That’s quite funny!

I'll miss you guys when your gone

Main problem with this place is it takes far too long for the obvious troll(s) / wind up merchants to get banned. By the time they do get banned the damage has already been done and the majority of the decent posters have already left.
That’s not a dig at the mod (Gold) who does a good yet thankless job. The forum owners should have spotted this and dealt with it but never seem to.
Shame as this place has been a very good source of information for me and many others over the years.
-
Come to think of it has Nigel been banned? Not that I've missed him ;D

Must have, there was a 'insurance' thread last week and he never contributed. Now, we all know between him and the cupboard full of industry experts that he 'knows"....... a thread as long as your, your Mother's and her neighbours arm would normally have been forthcoming!!🤔
-
Also... development has stalled in wfp. Gardiners are clutching at straws- even going backwards in many regards🤔🤔.
What the industry needs now is a 'new Gardiners'. Willing to listen, apply and move forward in a positive way.
Lots of products manufactured to fail- like the Univalve, won't use stainless springs because they last 10 times longer than the crap that they now use- proven by the third-party service kits available on ebay!!!
So, the wfp world is your oyster... fresh blood required!😎👍

I agree - WinPro - you use the Reach It brushes don't you ?

Not all posting by trolls and wind up merchants gets reported and I don't read all posts. If you report it is treated confidentially and considered seriously.
This forum is still a good source of info and I encourage people to post interesting and useful stuff.

No, I currently use Supreme brushes as they are the best of a bad bunch. Used to use the original (and best) Xtremes but the current ones are just terrible!
On a plus though, the stainless spring supplied with the ebay service kit for the Univalve is still working and looking like new after 8 months!!

I agree the xtreme brushes are bad esp with hot water but I still use them for ease of use on some awkward work.they need to be better.the supremes are my standard go to brush.the best that gardiners offer these days IMO.

What’s wrong with the xtreme brushes? Never had a problem.

I think they wear out quite quickly.
I like the Gardiner brushes with the red stock and yellow and white bristles. Quite light.
Seem to last 'forever'.

Now ive modified the gardener goose neck to fit the OVA 8 for better use of the univalve I am currently trialling the x-line du post sill with rinse bar - the guys love em.
I'm fascinated by the reach it - but the cost is well - off putting and of course the resident troll always has loads to say without ever having used them...

I think the Asylum he escaped from must have finally caught up with him.

I think the supreme is by far the best Gardiners brush but as soon as i revert back to the xline sill with rinse bar you can just feel the difference in both scrubbing and rinsing, for me its the best out there just the weight that's the negative with it but still about half the weight of the much malined vikan. I just wish Gardiners would loosen up on their obsession with weight and other manufactures of brushes would pay more attention to the weight. One day we'll get the compromise we want.

I also like the look of them... squeaky clean dave on you tube did a review. the one that has a pad in the middle especially.
however .... they would struggle on upstairs sills .... If I lived near the coast with lots of salt and seagull striles I would imagine they would be great except for the cost and durability

It used to be a forum for Window Cleaners then it changed to a site for Dementia patients and went downhill after that.
Did I say I was part time?
