Avoid the bi turbo 1:6 at all cost , apart from that ones after 2008 aren’t a bad van ,yes they have a few issues but for a cheap van they are ok

That’s what they’ve said about those vans for years there fine after 05-07-13 etc they’ve solved the problems with engine and gearboxes it has a Euro engine in now blah blah,I just think they ain’t cheap and the quality’s not good imo.

I have had two over the years and they have been good work horses would I want one for my private use no it’s no Audi or BMW but as a work van they are good cheap to buy especially second hand and cheap to run maybe I was lucky but never had any major issues with mine , you do need a 40 acre field to turn them round in 😂😂😂 though but good on fuel and not a bad drive .

I have had a 2015 vivaro bi turbo for 6 years bought it for 12k with 32 k on the clock it's on 82k now , no major problems it's been solid.

Yeah good and bad in every make but I’ll never forget what a mechanic told me years ago, when you choose a van look around at how many 15-20 year old ones are still driving about.
-
I've had a bi-turbo 120 sport from new for 8 years plus now. I paid 15k plus vat for it at new. Amazing how prises have shot up.
No major problems but I have looked after it, regularly serviced, driven with respect and smoothly.
Like any make or model. It's russian roulette when buying used, as you have no idea how it's been driven and looked after.

The bi turbo ones are prone to engine failure as the 1:6 is underpowered and they tried to improve the performance by sticking another turbo on them and many blow up the engines , regular oil changes should help longevity

Have had my 2016 bi turbo for 6 years & it’s been pretty good. No major problems touch wood.
Also have a basic 2016 Vivaro & no major problems with that either yet. Had that one 5 years.
Both have around 60k mileage on them.

my bio turbo 125 been pretty good so far just hit 32k had it 3 years pulls ok bit harsh with eco off when vans empty i preferred the 2.0 cdti engine had a smoother power band and longer the 1.6 cdti has very short power band so tend to change gear a lot compaired to the 2.0 cdti will be trying a t6 next i think or toyota pro ace

That was precisely how I ended up with Ford Rangers.

Tbh it’s true though isn’t it certain vehicles you just don’t see anymore keeping the crusher busy.

Yes indeed.
There are gaps where entire age groups of vehicles, sold in huge numbers are missing - the rather excellent original and facelifted Mondeo comes to mind. They sold in their hundreds of thousands but I rarely see them.
In the case of the early Rangers, not a huge number were sold initially but there's a very strong following still, even after 24 years. The later versions - not so much.

I see loads of transit connects that are at least 15 years old still around...
Good sign!👍🙂

Mercedes A Class 06-10 hardly see em now.
-
What I’ve heard about the new Transporters I don’t think I’ll be buying one of them either lol, they do look nice though.

Bit of a nonsense statement, because if you buy a new van today it will be nothing like it's 15-20 year old pre-descessor.
-
Same as saying always look at the mother now I know that’s true lol.

But if you buy an 7-8 year old van it might hold good.
