Been ask to fix this leaking gutter but access is tight the gardens that back on to the alley have sheds in so am I right in thinking the only access will be a big cherry picker from the street ?

With hired MEWP be sure you fix it properly first time around as once the access equipment has gone and it next starts raining if it's still leaking you'll be getting asked to put it right at your cost. ;)

I was going to put a couple of screws in plus seal with sealant.
I’m also thinking about asking for payment upfront for the hire cost or just passing the job on to a roofer and letting it be their problem ???
Not sure what to do I’m sure the customer will fall over at the price as the hire costs are going to be £400 at least

It is what it is - whoever they use will need a cherry picker so the cost is the cost

Do you really want to do this job? saying no to customers is perfectly acceptable, I do it all the time. That said I've done loads of repairs like this over the years, using all kinds of access methods. If the adjacent gardens are flat and your given permission a large double or tripple (footed) with a stand off would be my first thoughts , but then I'd be wanting £200.00 for labour to fix that, plus materials plus and access equipment hire needed. You need to know the definite cause of problem with this before going any further, so being experienced with rain water drainage surveying is vital as the guttering is a complete system and often has several causes for leaks . I'd offer to change all gutter unions on that elevation with brand new fittings as they will all be aging at the same time and rubber gaskets being perished or unseated will be the likely cause. They are cheap to buy and IF you hired a picker for that money you'd be foolish not to replace all at the same time.

Agree. You would really want to replace all the joints as opposed to using a couple of screws and sealant. If you are charging £400 for access equipment be crazy not to.

I d pass it on to a roofer/builder....I used to do all sorts of jobs years ago including the odd gutter repair....now I won't even get up the ladder!😄

He’s not being lazy at all once you say “yeah” I’ll be you’re hero you end up taking on all sorts of responsibilities and hassle,I’ve done this myself in the past and it’s cost me money and time for no thanks.
Just as easy to say no sorry I don’t do X end of.

To be honest, knowing that it could bite me on the arse later down the road if it happens again and knowing what the other houses are like on this development I not going to take the job on, I'm not a builder or roofer but I'm sure the gutters are not right as there are a tonne of joints that have come apart on the same estate

Pruning trees/bushes
Clearing/fixing gutters
House/fence painting
Inside window cleaning
Putting up Xmas lights
I don't offer them because I can't be arsed anymore 😄
Also this was in my ladder monkey days....
