Brother in law in Hospital . Was up a ladder pulling Ivy off a gutter apparently only the ivy wasn’t so secure. Fell backwards, ladder stayed put.
Probable broken hip, arm sliced to the bone. Helicopter was on stand by as it looked so bad. He’s 62
He’s a chippy by trade ( or was 🥲).

Happens so easily, an the consequences can be so severe.
Ladders just for access these days, a few up and overs and the odd roof lantern.

Hope he has a full and speedy recovery

I got rid of my last 3 ladder jobs(all required access to flat roof extensions to clean glass roofs)a few months ago.
I only use my ladders (and split the sections) to get over the odd gate occasionally so I don't damage the gate.thats it!
It's a great feeling to not have to use them anymore

Hope he makes a fully recovery I'm the same age as him as you get older your body loses its bounce
I've cleaned Windows for 15 years never used ladders as I'm scared of heights !! I've always been 100% wfd using ladders has never been an option forme

Cracked pelvis, plenty if stitches, Sent home the next day as they have no beds. Apparently was chucking up in the car on the way home due to codine painkillers.
Sat at home in a wheelchair for now.
Had a remarkable escape really!

Wishing him a speedy recovery.I had a ladder slip on me last year,it’s a pretty horrendous experience and I was very lucky.Sprained wrist, bruised coccyx and somehow ripped my big toenail off.Could easily have broken my back the way I landed.I should have known better,I knew the ground was a bit slippery but took a gamble.Won’t take any risks again,it shook me up massively.
