Title: Booster pump / T
Post by: combat1 on February 26, 2023, 05:21:51 pm
Hi All
My booster pump is located on a garage wall Behind the TV in the lounge.
Recently it’s started interfering with all the channels except BBC.
You can’t watch the programme at all, just massive interference.
Anybody know how to stop it causing this?
Thanks.

If the motor has carbon brushes, Then it could be that one or both are arching in the commutator.  This could be because the brush has worn and there is little pressure being applied on the carbon brush to make a good contact on the commutator. A carbon brush could just wear because of age. But if one of the commutator segments has lifted, then that could also wear a carbon brush quickly.

You should be able to hear a carbon brush arching. Arching also causes heat.

It could also be that one of the brushes has stuck in its brush holder.

Some motors have a suppression filter across the positive and negative wires to stop interference.

You’re a youngster Spruce!
I’m wondering which will pack up first, me or my van, poles, pumps etc😂
Probably going to have to invest in a replacement booster pump. Not a problem, it’s done a good few years.
Thanks, as usual, for your help.
All the best.

That's what the annual joke was with my 04 plate Citroen Relay when it was time for MOT. "Will Spruce outlast the van, or will the van outlast him?"

The van's last MOT.

"Would you like to hear the good news or the bad news?"

"The bad news"

"You've outlasted your van."

"What's the good news?"

"You've outlasted your van."
