My nano pole lasted 14 months, snapped a section today and another has splintered....
Cons are the base cap is rubbish and had worn through.
The clamps are not as good as gardiner clamps as much as I convinced myself they are OK.
The sections never really glided as smoothly when extending and collapsing even after 14 months.
The gardiner carbon gooseneck doesn't fit very well in the top section(had to put tape around it to get it to fit).
It's slightly heavier than an xtreme but it's still knackered after just over a years use. ;D
So I'm using an SLX and an old xtreme 25 (which is
a few different sections cobbled together) until my new one arrives hopefully by the end of the week....
Just under £700 with delivery these days

Lol you do blow hot and cold the other month the nano pole was the best thing since sliced bread and the extream was over priced rubbish , now you have said the total opposite, you do loose credibility by theses contradictory posts .

Another U turn?
Wasn’t unexpected if I’m honest!
-
Good to get some feedback about the nano pole.
-
At £700 i would rather buy 2 SLX 22 ft and still have some change left over.

I don't give a f**k what you think mate! ;D
I'm not scared of trying something different or changing my views at all...
The truth is its not really lasted much longer than an xtreme pole...
I still think the xtreme pole could be improved(stronger and slightly heavier carbon)but its still the best for the easiest work day....
-

Each to their own but a 22 footer is too short for lots of my work so pretty useless really! ;D

The nano is OK but it's not really lasted much longer than an xtreme.if it lasted 2 or 3 years I would of bought another but as its only £100 more for an xtreme I went with that...... :)

To be honest Daz, from some of your previous posts, i think you could probably get longer from both your nano or extreme pole if you gave them a bit more tlc. Both Gardiners and xline recommend stripping them down and thoroughly cleaning them out, ie getting some wet wipes scrunched into a ball and pushing through each section with a cane. I do it once a month and the amount of crap that comes out this time of year is unbelievable. Also, a strip of electric tape at the base of each section is very good at preventing the splintering. I got 20 months from my Nano before breaking the 1st section my pole almost certainly gets more of a work out than yours given your part time hours. Mine only broke because i dropped it with part of the 1st section extended as well, my fault more than wear and tear. How did yours break?

And this is the trouble....all that money on a pole that breaks as soon as its dropped, bonkers ;D
-
Strange youve posted this as i was also thinking the same myself today....
After thinking my nano was invincible i managed to snap the top section a few weeks ago. To be fair i dropped it on a corner of a step so it wasnt really the poles fault.
My base cap wore through months ago ;D
i still think its way more durable than an extreme, my extreme would have been in the bin by now, the clamps arent as good as gardiner in terms of ease of use but they are better for not spinning.
The sections on mine slide fine now but they did take a couple of months to do so.
Im on the fence, the extreme is the better pole but the nano is better value for money
-
The Extreme imo is the best pole you can buy in 2nd I would say the Ova High Mod,the latter is stronger and seems when handling very much stronger although that would have to be tested. I would say it would win the drop test though hence the slight increase in weight, that Ova is a very good quality pole-product quality in the hand that’s the Hi-Mod though.

He’s like a politician you can’t believe a word he says 😂😂 more u turns than the government

An Extreme pole extends incredibly well and drops down to the base section with ease I’ve yet to use a pole that does this from new,the Ova although a great pole doesn’t do this and only begins to slide back in the previous section when it’s had a fair bit of use.
The way the Extreme opens and closes would win the comparison in the above 2 poles although the sections don’t spin on the Ova weight would sway me to the Extreme every time.

They were even better for extending/collapsing when they had the raised bottom, middle and top clamping points. The downside was they didn’t last as long as you couldn’t clamp along the entire length of the pole section, only on the raised clamping points.

After so many years refining your work I’m surprised you need a 25’ pole for most of it.

If he worked full time it would only last seven months :o

Yeah I agree they were very robust over the clamping metal section and as you say great for putting the pole up and down quickly,I’ve still got the one I had but did have to replace the top section but the pole lasted ages.
I think a lot of people at the time said it lasted longer than the previous version,my thinking was that’s why it went back I wouldn’t want to be selling something that lasted 2-3 times longer as a seller for obvious reasons.
-
My nano looking quite worn no snapped sections as yet I may try the boss pole next ;D

The Xtreme I was referring to pre dated the one with the metal collars, it had three clamping points per section and each of these clamping points had a raised profile meaning there was very little friction between the sections when extending/collapsing.
-
Sorry yes KS that’s the one I meant I still have one with the metal bands also.

Cos I clean some very large buildings as well as my usual round that has lots of awkward windows....i need all 25 ft just to reach the first-floor windows on some Georgian properties ;)
-
You don’t need a 25ft for them I’m cleaning that kind of house daily 1st floor you would get some with an 18 definitely with a 22,maybe you stand 25ft back from the window Daz is that what you mean lol.
-
im thinking about trying a 22ft hi mod next, shame xline dont do one
i have an 18 and 25 but dont like swapping about during the day its a bit annoying sometimes so i have a habit of just using the 25 because i cant be bothered messing about but its a bit cumbersome for all day use due to the extra length.
-
Go for the Ova 22 m8 Hi Mod you won’t be disappointed you’ll be surprised 👌

Are the clamps OK they look terrible?
Sure you've said before they were rubbish ?
I might try one 🤔

How can you even comment on my work?🤣
You have no idea what work i clean AT ALL......
I'll need my 25 footer fully extended at least 5 or 6 times today.....do you suggest using a smaller pole and going back to the van for my 25 just for 5 or 6 windows?it's not worth it...
I also have some jobs with 3 storey windows that i can just about reach with the 25 so this is my main day to day pole
-
They must be very very high first floor windows on a Victorian house to need a 25ft pole Daz I’ve been cleaning them for 30 years almost and never needed a pole that long, maybe they can’t measure up North lol.
-

The clamps are not great but that aren’t as important as they are on a pole like an Extreme because on the Ova they only need to clamp vertically on an Extreme you want to be secure on the whole section don’t you.
Honestly give it a go in Hi Mod form lovely in the hand when you get used to the shape and feels proper quality.

That's why i went to 22ft instead of a 25ft ,the 22ft reaches 95% of my work....

Do you use a swivel? I find they are great for windows above conservatories as you can get them from the side of the conservatory most of the time, my 18’ pole does most of my work including windows above conservatories.
-
I might order a new Extreme soon. I need a new hat.
-

Wouldn’t bother with the ova 8 22 hi mod. I had one, two sections cracked near the base after a few weeks, and they weigh more that the advertised weight, they weigh the same as an slx 22, I told streamline about the discrepancy in their advertised weight but they said my scales must be wrong, funny thing is though my scales weighed my slx 22 the same as the advertised weight.
If you want a cheap hi mod pole go for the boss hi mod, they are almost identical to the xtereme poles.

I'll give it a miss, I think boss poles also have similar clamps ? Look like cner ones

Yes they are all cner. The claps are the same as the ova8 but for a round pole obviously.

Back on topic....it was a joy to use my brand new xtreme today.ive just forgot how easy this makes my work day...
Got a f/s/g clean first thing tomorrow followed by 18 estate houses to clean.... :)

What's the difference between brand new and new? Asking for a friend.

That'll be a snapped section then on your new Extreme ;D
-
What's the difference between brand new and new? Asking for a friend.
It's usually just a matter or emphasis -- "brand new" just emphasizes that something is new. But also sometimes "new" means "new to you". For example, you got rid of your car and then bought a used one. You could call this car "new" because it is new to you, though it is used. But if you wanted to say you bought a car that is absolutely new and has not been driven, then you could say "brand new".
There ya go just copied and pasted that from. Google for you ;D

Lindos is lovely, worth a visit but even better if you can stay and get the evening vibe.

Only holiday I've got booked this year is norfolk.
Honestly I prefer holidaying in Britain than going abroad probably because I've got kids and its way too much of an ordeal. Usually go abroad every year but can't say I ever enjoy it as much as a week in a caravan in Wales.

Last time I was in Rhodes I’d got the ferry from Haifa. Slept on the top deck for three nights under the stars. Then on arrival we backpacked up through the old quarter and slept on the open-air roof of a youth hostel for three more nights, before getting another ferry across to Marmaris in Turkey.
The joys of being 24 without a single care in the world….

Even at 24 i would of still paid for a room and bed for the night,,sod roughing it ;D

Sleeping on the roof of a youth hostel was half the fun. Although one night I kipped down on an old mattress on the roof a youth hostel in the Old City of Jerusalem. When I woke up in the morning I moved the pillow there was a used tampon under it.
I got a locals bus from Aswan, which is right down south in Egypt, to Hurghada up on the Red Sea coast when I was backpacking on another occasion. When we got to Hurghada we went to retrieve our rucksacks from the compartment under the bus via the coaches side panels, I slung my rucksack on my back. It was soaking wet and I was getting wet too. I took it off and what had happened was the toilet on the bus had leaked piss and shit all over my bag for the previous 8 hours.

I hitched across Germany once. Took three days. We slept under the stars in fields alongside the autobahn every night. It was fun. Then we’d get up, go in to the motorway service station we were at, get a shower, have a dump then breakfast and off we went to start hitching again. That night, lie down in the field, in your rucksack, with a beer watching the stars.
The only thing we missed back in the day was a swimming pool and a plate of baked beans…..

The only thing we missed back in the day was a swimming pool and a plate of baked beans…..
;D

Motorbiked from Bristol to Italy via Grenoble, Switzerland through the Alps in 1980 on a Suzuki GT750 triple. All on A roads as we didn't want to pay motorway tolls. Took 4 days with an old army surplus bivouac strapped on the back.
Did the last 300 miles with no clutch as the cable (not hydraulic) had snapped.

A very cool and significantly sounding bike. A smoker 👍

And water cooled - and with a frame that felt like it had a hinge in the middle! I went again the next year but had switched to a Honda CB750F1.
