Title: Hotbox - Diesel or Kerosene?
Post by: Jim Barrett on February 14, 2023, 12:06:39 pm
I’ve got an older Cleanwell hotbox.

Would this run best on diesel or kerosene?

From my days repairing space heaters, kerosene was always the better, more reliable, cleaner fuel.

Any thoughts please? Cheers.

Jim , you are correct Kero is a cleaner fuel to burn  therefore  keeping the working parts more serviceable .

It's also  cheaper than diesel  so its a win win in my book

You know I've never considered kero but it's half the price of diesel - how easy is it to buy ( ie not in bulk but to fill 4 x 20 ltr jerry cans

HI Darren  ,  i use to get it delivered in  210 ltr drums

But i now go and fill the tank up at the pump as and when i need it ( with a few 25ltr drums )

Check out your local bulk  fuel suppliers and if they don't sell it on their premises ,they will know one of their  supplier's who does

You can always buy it online and have it delivered in 25ltr but that way is expensive ect

Cheers - I will investigate

We used to have a shop in the village with 2 pumps outside for heating fuel - but its long since closed down  :(
