Title: Dog Got Out
Post by: Bungle on October 26, 2022, 07:19:07 pm
Ring the bell at a customers house to let them know I'm there this morning. Lady with mobility problems comes to the door holding a dog back. I've got to keep hold of him as he's an escape artist she says. Then out of the blue he gets loose and legs it up the road. FFS, I turn the pump off and run after him. Picture Fools and Horses Batman and Robin. Well that was me. I give him a shout. Funk that he says and keeps running. So there I am chasing a dog up the road with my pouches bouncing up and down and I'm also wearing my latex gloves. Doesn't sound right does it! Off he goes round the corner towards a main road. A car pulls up next to me asking about the dog. Breathless I say he's escaped, so they go off after him in the car. I round the corner and he's next to the main road. Off he goes again and crosses the road. Meanwhile there's a cop car with his blues and twos heading towards me. Dog doesn't give a funk and runs up a side road. Meanwhile the people in the car get ahead of the dog. Me, puffing and panting reach them, only about a quarter of a mile from the job. I'm hoping the people will offer to put the dog on their boot as there's no way I could get him home by holding his collar. Fortunately the people had a spare dog lead in their car so I put it on him. Then the owner comes in the road with her lead and takes over so I give the other lead back. Another quarter of a mile walk back and I make a start on the windows 😇

They only ‘escape’ because they’re hardly ever let out, walked or entertained.

Nightmare.

You will see the funny side one day!
At least the dogs ok. Could have been a lot worse.
I was leafleting a few years ago with a new lad who had just started working for me. He goes to a house and as he gets to the door a young girl accidentally let the Alsatian out which promptly pinned him up against the wall. Owner comes out and gets the dog in but the boy is in a right state.
He did laugh about it eventually but it took a long time!

I'd have watched it run off while thinking "that's a shame.  Anyway..."

But that's enough about the women you've been out with ...  ;D

I turned up to a first clean today, a great big German shepherd in the front garden nearly gave me a heart attack. Front door was open but despite me shouting hello no one came so I sacked it off.  ;D

Never my favourite creatures, even less so now.
Fortnight ago one ripped my finger to bits.
Haven't worked since,  going to try today.
You usually find with difficult dogs the problem is on the other end of the lead!
Even on the way home from the hospital with a massive bandage on,  a young couple thought it was  hilarious when their Staffie jumped up pawing me all over.
Dimwits.

I don't like dogs either and there's nothing worse when one is jumping up and the owner says oh he just wants to say hello. In my head I'm just getting ready to boot it if needs be.

I am a dog owner and love dogs but agree with the above

I like it when you’ve got clean work wear on and the customers just comes back from a walk through the woods and laughs when the dog jumps all over you.

It doesn’t bother me with the clothing getting all covered in mud bungle it’s if I’m holding a massive wad of fifty pound notes at the time and they get muddy and wet,so awkward to dry em off a lot easier with 50p bits though yeah 🤣🤣
