Title: Data Protection?
Post by: Granny on September 30, 2022, 05:04:48 pm
Legally, could I use these  in advertising, promoting and marketing without the sender's permission?

Some customers would highly take offence to their data being shared for marketing purposes, especially those that have been scammed online hence why some of them point blank refuse to do online banking for bill payments.

I know a minority of my customers refuse to pay electronically simply because of being scammed and they are reluctant to share information unless convinced their data is kept private, which I respect.

Can't you just ask their permission?

First thing - you have posted the images here! So if it's a data protection issue then you already have one!  ;)

Personally, and I am no Data Protection expert, as the people are not identifiable by just their first name I think you are fine to use the comments in marketing material.

it's a bit late now....  ::)roll

first and foremost just ask

if its being used on a flyer/website etc as a comment from a satisfied "customer" - like  "great service - Mrs S - Hampshire" would be fine

I would say yes as long as you don't show the last name you are not giving her details out.

To be fair you could easily fake some testimonial or indeed text messages so I wouldn't  worry most probably make them up anyway.

There's a site where you can make fake text messages if you are wanting them to look like that.  ;D

It does the job, sends and receives unlimited calls and texts for £4 per month.
Can't be doing with them Smartyphones!
