As above, when reeling in at the start it makes a grating sound, do I need a new belt?
-
Sounds like you need new bearings 😬

Mmm could be 🙄

My old power up hd did the same started sounding grindy rough then the bearings collapsed chain fell off 🤦♂️

If its belt driven and not that old of a reel it's probably the belt especially if the noise only occurs when starting to reel in and the noise is not constant or noticeable when reeling in.
I've just replaced a belt on one of mine.
Started to make noise then snapped shortly after.
I'm now going to change the belts yearly when vehicle service is due as preventative maintenance.
-
Check the belt tension it might need adjusting
-
I have tried adjusting, didn't make any difference, and yes it's only making the noise when starting up

Its just over a year old

About the same age as mine mate.
When you look at the belt when you take it off if it has cracks in the rubber when you bend it, it will need replacing.
-
Not constant noise, I'll check the belt, thanks 👍

My pure freedom reelmaster is over 4 years old now.....
It's never missed a beat in all that time apart from the first week of buying it(chain kept coming off)....
I'd hate to have to mess about changing belts, fuses, switches, etc all the time...
The powerup reels are simply not robust enough for the rigours of day to day WFP window cleaning

Why do you keep slagging off the 3d reels in various posts Daz? You’ve never owned one. I own two & they’re great. One of mine is nearly two years old & it hasn’t missed a beat either.
You’ll get the odd problem with anything. You’ve had some problems with your heater but we don’t go slagging grippa off.
On another thread someone has what is possibly a controller problem. What you gonna do? Slag off Spring? These things happen.
Carry spare parts. You know that. You’ve said it often enough in the past.

Is this a good replacement?

Also it looks easy enough to do myself, YouTube has a good video, is it easy?

Don't know if that's the same belt as I just used window cleaning warehouse for mine.
-
My mate replaced mine he has his own garage and is used to doing things like that.
Should be easy enough if you have the required tools and follow the you tube video.

Mines made that noise, it had moved off the spindle slightly and the plastic casing was rubbing against the frame…

Just contact waterworks direct. I had a few questions when i bought my second reel as i wanted the outlet on the other side. The technical guy i spoke to was good as gold. Really helpful. Gave me a spare belt, relay & switch.

The videos are on YouTube for changing parts on that reel the first one I came to was the belt change.
-
All sorted, changed the belt, got out this affo
Cheers for all the tips lads👍

Pushed it back onto the spindle frame properly, also ordering a new belt as it’s starting to slip now, even after belt adjustment.

Went to window cleaning warehouse and got 2 belts for £11 each, used YouTube to fit it

In fairness to Daz, it is always the 3d reels that seem to have issues.
I think when I buy again, I’ll be going for a pure freedom reel. My 3d has been good, but it’s not as reliable as I’d want. Having to change the belt, and then the spindle issue is really annoying. Sounds like the pure freedom one is pretty much bullet proof, you rarely ever hear anyone starting a thread with issues with it.
Having said that, if the 3d becomes more reliable, then I’d stick with it.

Trust me the pure freedom reels aren’t trouble free either I have had several issues that resulted in having to send them back to the factory , I have 6 waterworks 3 D reels and 2 pure freedom , the pure freedom are well over engineered but still fundamentally flawed in their design, just one example , the plate that you need to remove to replace the chain or put it back on the cigs when it comes off is on the inside of the frame so you have to remove all the hose ti get to it and do anything then the drum end is also in the way , a simple solution would be have the outside end removable but no they make it as complicated and awkward as possible. There are many other issues as well that could be greatly improved. I have had more problems with the pure freedom reels than all the 3 D ones put together , I di like the pure freedom reels though just they need to listen to constructive criticism and alter there design. I would bet that the 3d reels are way more common too, due to being more affordable. About £250 less than the reelmasters currently.

anyone tryed the xline one looks good but of kit
