Will r/o filter want changing or resin ?
It reads 0.56 through r/o
Then 0.48 when it’s gone through the resin bottle

What tds meter are you using? Your figures are in a different language. ???

If im reading your post right and its 56 tds out the RO the RO is shot to pieces, you will.need a new RO and new resin.

If it was me I’d change your pre filters first cause your gonna need some new ones anyway. See if that brings it down first. Then the membrane

Changing the pre filters won't bring the tds down.

Isn't there an EC (electrical conductivity) meter out there that measures some components, but not totally dissolved solids in the water we need?

If I'm correct, then the o/p needs to buy a tds meter from Daqua to identify what his true situation is.

I’v only been using my system for year n a half so have only been having to change my pre filters so far
Water in the tank is now showing at 001ppm
So im now gonna change my resin
I havnt got any tds meters fitted yet but I am heading planning on fitting them shortly would you put one after every filter point
So after the pre filters
Then after the ro then another after the resin
This is a static system by the way so my water is usually in my tank at 000ppm and I still have di tanks in the van for the water to pass through just to be sure

I have an inline tds meter with 2 sensors. The first sensor is on the pure after r/o but before the di vessel. The second sensor is after the di vessel. The tds of our tap water is mainly between 120ppm and 140ppm. So I know my tds reading after r/o will be 3. If it goes to 4 then it's time to investigate. I firstly check my tap water tds with my handheld tds meter. Then it's a little fiddle with the waste gate valve.
The consensus was that when the efficiency of your membrane drops to about 94% then you need to consider a membrane replacement. So if my tap water was 100ppm and the pure leaving my r/o was 6ppm, then that might be when to start thinking about a change. However, if your water is much softer, then you might consider leaving it a bit longer. It's all about 'economies of scale.' The cost of resin is on the up. It used to be around £80 for a 25litre bag of Tulsion MB115. Last price I saw was £112.00. I have a 6 litre di vessel and a 25 litre bag of resin lasts me 4 years.
I'm a great believer in changing my carbon block filter according to the manufacturer's guidelines. My HF5 Axeon membrane is now 10 years old, and the rejection rate is still between 97 and 98%.
A local window cleaner, now retired, ran a Merlin r/o. Out of the box, his unit only removed 90% of the dissolved solids in the same water we use. We used similar amounts of water a year. A bag of resin only lasted him a year.
