Do any of you use a tracker or cameras 🎥 n your vans with single operators so you can trust what they are doing all day or just to have so they know you can check if you need to
-
All vans tracked
not so much about the guys - but been useful when a customer (usually large commercial) rings in spouting off about being on site for only 10 minutes - when in fact it was an hour
I once for the police when some one claimed our van was driving dangerously - when at the time all vans were a minimum of 20 miles away

Iv been having a bit a trouble with staff once they go out in the van on their own.
They seem to be great when they are out with me getting trained up and getting to know the run.
Then I get them in their own van and for the first lot of months everything seems to be fine.
But then I start getting calls or messages asking why the windows havnt been cleaned in so long and I’m saying they were done last week or whatever and they are saying no defiantly not
Or his work should be taking him until about four o’clock and I seen him one day at his last house just before 2 which should be impossible
So needless to say he is no longer with us but I want to try and think of the best way of knowing they are doing all the work and not rushing it so was thinking tracker or dash came where at least with a dash came I can actually watch back if I need to
I’m at least thinking if they know there’s a camera they will know they can’t get away with anything

Caught a lad doing this. When I confronted him about it he left.

Trackers are cheap and can come in handy to prove you were at a job and for how long.
I'm sure an employee knowing they have a tracker fitted will have a different attitude especially if you actually use it periodically and pull them up on any slacking.
I used to work for a company that had a tracker and when you have been caught once nipping home for 5 mins you tend not to do it again :D
I have one on my van Its £6 a month

Yeah think I’m going to get the tracker fitted my quote was £65 up front then £7 a month was just thinking would the dash came be better
The easier I seem to make the job for them the more they seem to p about fs
Same as posting the bloody receipts the many customers have started saying they been charged but no receipt was posted fs so makes you wonder has he even been doing the work at all
pes me off this guy is someone Iv knowing for years drank with all that then he was outta work so I reached out to him to offer him help
Ended up giving him full time work got his own van set up for him full time holiday pay pension all that then after a few months this starts feel like punching the head of him whys it so hard to trust anybody when all you’ve done is help them

Since then all our vehicles are tracked.

It's a familiar story.....better off on your own in my experience

You can have a look through the dash cam in minutes if you need to do this though imo you need to get someone else.
-
I have got rid of him and am trying to get someone else I’m just trying to get new methods in place now to prevent it happening again
-
Tracker is great to see how long they have been at the property and proof that the van has been in a customers drive etc.
Dash cam would only really be good for accidents .
Can you get continuous monitoring cameras that back up to a hard drive stored in the van somewhere. Bit like a onboard CCTV I suppose.
Me, as it's just myself I have a tracker on my phone which has come in handy 3 times now,
Customers questioning if I have been. when I say I'll check the tracker for the times they soon say they could tell I've been a were just curious

I have Vue dash cam linked up to the cloud and my phone for time recorded accidents should they ever happen with a back up battery so it still records up to 12hours when parked.
