So today I did a solar panel clean , and gutter fascia clean for a long standing windows customer. I do this for him approx every 2 years.
usually I use No Nonsense degreaser on the panels , but today i did it differently.
I had sprayed all the gutters etc with a weak hypo mix 1 part to 10 water, and i still had half left , so instead of getting rid , I used it to spray over the solar panels . right away I started getting shocks . my pole and brush were not even touching them , I was just spraying.
I was able to finish the job but the customer had to switch the panels off.
has anyone else experienced this ? I have never had this happen before

How did you get a shock if you weren’t touching them?
-
Which panel manufacturer has advised use of hypo on their product?
-
There's no point in using hypo unless it's on render or paving.
-
Lol let’s hope the solar panel company don’t get called if they pick up traces of hypo on the panels you will be looking at a very large claim against you . They take samples and get them tested to see what chemicals have been used on the panels if it’s not an approved product look out , we used to do very large contracts for one of the largest solar installers in the uk they sued lots of cleaners for the damage done to the panels by corrosion using caustic and hypo products ., especially if the company own the pannels and rent the roof.

Exactly

Electricity will travel up the vapour back to the pole then go to ground through the cleaner

Also you cannot switch the panels off they are always live , all you can do is turn the inverter off which will stop the power going from the panels to the house or grid
