Title: Carrying Smartphone
Post by: Clean Cloth on August 16, 2022, 08:15:24 pm
I have been managing with a 2014 Blackberry phone for everyday life and work, it fits in the side pocket of my work trousers.
I have recently opened a business bank account that needs a smartphone with Android 10 or above to use their mobile app.
I bought a new phone with a 6.5 inch screen so it is a lot bigger than the Blackberry but I really do not want to damage it or get it wet, bent in my pocket, fall out of my pocket when bending over etc while at work.
I am traditional so wear a full width pouch and a BOAB.
I can leave it in the glove box of the vehicle but it would be handy to have on me to answer calls and texts.
Do you have your phone on your person all the time when working?

My phones even bigger and it just goes in my pocket. Decent case and screen protector helps.

Get the Z Flip 3 from Samsung......6.5 inch screen but folds in half and you can answer the phone without flipping it out.....can also check messages without flipping it.....has a screen on outside.

I always have my phone on me whilst working as I listen to music/radio/audio books with one Bluetooth ear bud plus I can answer calls with my watch  so I don't have to physically get my phone out while poling...

Mine has a case and screen protector and easily fits into my pocket because I wear combat shorts with deep pockets( my screen is slightly bigger at 6.8 too!)

I have an iPhone 13 pro max, just goes in my pocket no problems.
I wouldn’t work without it on me, especially if I’m going up a ladder in case I had a fall, or even if the wind blows it over while I’m on a flat roof and I’m stuck!

Do what I do, buy two phones and leave the best one at home in the sock drawer.

Me, too.
The problem is getting my sock drawer into a pocket if I have to take my bestest smartphone to work.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Some of you must have deeper pockets than me, My phone sticks out the top of the pockets on my work/cargo trousers so that the velcro top cannot be closed.
I am looking at belt cases.

We do some work over water and use waterproof pouches on lanyards to protect the fones. Might work for you.

I reckon I could fit a tablet into my cargo shorts. I would buy some trousers/shorts with bigger pockets and wear Bluetooth so you dont have to get the phone out of your pocket

Most phones are waterproof these days and I haven't managed to break a phone in years.

My girlfriend has phone insurance through her bank and has had hers replaced on multiple occasions.

Try a military style tactical vest/waistcoat with multiple pockets.
I may look like a suicide bomber, but I like my personal space anyways 😄

iphone xs - Got slightly wet - Dead

iphone 12 Pro Max - Dropped into bath - Dead

But apparently they can stay submerged in water for something like 30 minutes.

Leave my phone in the van and reply to texts or messages when notified on the van dash display upon starting the van, don't need to carry a mobile 24/7
