Hi guys , what does everyone do with their leisure battery’s when going away for a week? Iv took mine out the van and put it in charge in the garage but not sure whether to leave it on all week or charge when I get back?

I just looked this up on google. It seems that in days of yore this was good advice but nowadays redundant. Are there any reasons why it is still valid?

My guys left a battery on the unit floor it was dead after a week

You don’t need to do anything with it , it’s better to charge it up but that’s all having it doing nothing for a week won’t do it any harm

I left mine on charge for 2 weeks in May whilst on holiday.....they are designed for that.

No worries, it’s fully charged now - was a bit worried about it going flat by the time I come back that’s all

If you have a smart charger yes it will be fine if just a normal one it will boil the batter and kill it

Yes mine is on a smart charger.
Yes mine is probably knackered but I don't think leaving it on charge for 2 weeks did it.
Did the same with the last one and that lasted for nearly 4 years.
They're designed to be left on charge...as far as I know you can even use them whilst still on charge.

I always take mine on holiday with me .

Not all of us class camping in a lay-by as a holiday so it’s not an option 😂

If you are just a cold water user I don’t know why people are so concerned about charging once charged or new if you have a split setup in the van they last forever without the need for a regular bench charge,they become more of an issue once you introduce a diesel heater.

I only do about 3500 miles a year so I didn’t think a split setup would work for me. I literally drive 5 mins from my house to the 1st job then 1-2 minute drive between each job

There’s a few I see about that just wire from the main battery they always have carried a spare but have never needed it.
