Clean It Up

I was doing the insides, because it was so hot out there the rubber feet of my step ladder melted and caused some stains on their carpet after I brought in.
I already phoned my insurance and was told the it's not worth it if the damage cost doesn't exceed £250.
I found a carpet cleaner who's happy to with £40 and I'm happy to pay that but he's not confident that he can completely remove it.
I'm just thinking what if he can't completely remove it and the customer is still not happy? Would you pay for a new carpet?
-
Firstly £40 that seems very cheap and cheerful and secondly yes you should be buying them a new carpet for that room,if that happened in my house I would insist on a new carpet.
-
Just see how it comes up, then you can come to an arrangement with the Customer, they might not be bothered enough to want a new carpet.
-
The customer would be entitled to a new carpet if cleaning does not restore it to a good standard.
I am guessing it is a hallway carpet so hopefully not too large an area.
If I use steps/ladders inside I put down a sheet/towel to protect the carpet. Only something I encounter on rare occasion.
-
That looks simple enough for an experienced carpet cleaning professional.
You'd be surprised what a careful expert can do with the right chemicals and kit.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Why not put this in the carpet cleaning section and ask their advice?

Should have used ladders with spikes on . No issues then .
-
I'd claim off them for their carpet melting your steps.
What have they said about it? It doesn't look that new so offer them a few quid or a few free cleans if they are not happy but tell them you'll no longer be able to do insides.
Better still, buy them a cheap rug ;D.

Total nonsense, you can earn decent money doing insides...
I charge 50% extra the price of the outsides for doing insides and im pretty quick so always a good earner and in crap weather its a godsend to be inside...
You are either slow at trad or not charging enough!

You can earn well doing inside work, you just charge more.
-
I agree I like inside work and as others have said charge more than the outside price it’s easy money if you know how to use a squeegee properly, that’s the thing many window cleaners don’t.
