Looking like another week of torture ;D
Half day finishes galore no doubt, supposed to hit 30 degrees tomorrow. If its anything like today far too hot to do anything, only been out out for half an hour in the garden and had to retreat :'(
-
They’re talk of 40c by the end of the week in the South. Scary.
-
I must say purchasing a portable air con a few weeks ago has to rank amongst one of my best purchases of all time. Sat in the house today cool as a cucumber watching wimbledon. 8)
-
Only Monday and Tuesday look really hot, down to a cool 25c by Wednesday ;D
-
Best song of all time.

But he's right, Daz.
It seems you're the one that doesn't understand the damage the sun can do.

I'm having overnight oats for breakfast...
Oats
Chocolate protein powder
Cacao powder
Chai seeds
5g creatine
Peanut butter
Almond milk
Ive mixed it altogether and put it in the fridge ready for morning. I've also put a drinks bottle in the freezer overnight (plus I'll take a flask of tea and another drinks bottle with me),sandwiches, yoghurt, apple and protein bar.
I'll probably wear a cap tomorrow as well as sunglasses and suncream, shorts, thin polo shirt(gym fabric),trainers instead of boots.
Air con on to and from jobs and lunchtime.lovely!
I'll probably work 9am -3pm(ish)...that's a normal day for me.
Have a great day chaps and try and enjoy the weather!🙂

The sun won't stand a chance, mate.
-
I'll probably wear board shorts tomorrow, strap the sup to the roof rack, start work at 8, finish when I've had enough, grab a beer and go for a paddle, finish the rest Tuesday and then do the same.
-
Bacon, eggs, beans, fried bread, black pudding tomato sauce, builders tea. Start at 6 stop at lunch and sit under a water lilly for half an hour.
-
8am to midday most days anyway.
Easy, will enjoy the sunshine ☀️
-
The good news is the warm weather is gonna last a few weeks lads!😄😛
I bought a hotplate from amazon for £28 last week.much less mess than a barbecue.its been used 3 times already this weekend just gone!😁

I've got a block of 21 granny flats to clean today,5 large houses,2 bungalows and Adams favourite!(glass conny roof).😄
Then the gym tonight for a weight training session around 8pm 💪

Especially when he's had his overnight oats.
Keep us posted, Daz. It's better than any box set, this.

Can't remember it's was from screwfix £300.
Cools down an average room in about 10 mins. It's brilliant on a night I can't stand the heat and can't sleep in this weather normally but with the air con i have been waking up cold lol

Symptoms included vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating, cramps, thirst, high temperature and terrible head ache.
Turned out it was the Oats,
Chocolate protein powder
Cacao powder
Chai seeds
5g creatine
Peanut butter
Almond milk
I had for breakfast.
-
Bit warm for window cleaning today, so decided to lay some large paving instead. need a rest so going back to work tomorrow

I'm fair skinned...I don't stand a chance!

This week it’s 8.30 Until 11.30 Monday to Thursday. Instead of rushing about trying to get it done Monday to Wednesday.
-
It was about 30 degrees monday i finished at 12
But its been fine all week since only about 21/22, working tomorrow as well then highly unlikely i will be working next mon and tues when its looking like 35 degrees.

I’m not working Monday as the van is in for work, but i would have otherwise, I don’t really feel the heat too much, I kind of get into work mode and just push on.
One thing is for sure, I always miss the heat and sun when it’s gone, so best to make the most of it and enjoy it!

I finished all my work by 1-30pm today.off until monday again!😀
I'll be working mon-thurs too next week.
I'll probably work 8am-2pm mon and Tues if it's as hot as forecast rather than my normal 9-3.....😎😎
-
I had heat stroke once running a timed sprint race in the army with boots and full army gear and weapon, absolutely barmy hot temperature in a foreign country . I can remember crossing the line in record time, then seeing stars and waking up in a bath of ice cold water haha, seriously isn't funny getting heat stroke.

I got it once when I was 11 in majorca.....really ill for 3 days....
Luckily my local gym has air conditioning otherwise I wouldn't be lifting weights in 34c heat!🙂

loving the heat hotter the better and no problem when working in it,
and then training in it on a evening outside
brin it on been waiting 6months for this weather
-
Start early and finish early is the order of the day if the temperature gets into the mid 30s in the afternoon.
Plenty of water/fluids,suncream,hat,some fruit and crack on.
A little afternoon nap(siesta)around 4pm is on the cards I think!😄

"national emergency"?!!!, bit of heat or bit of cold and this county goes into panic mode. Good job we're not nearer the equator, or further north nearer the pole. We're all doomed.
-
Aye, a national emergency.
I think it's more than a bit of heat but we'll see.

A red weather warning and national emergency declared.
Be careful out there, if you decide to venture out.
Oh for goodness sake, here we go with the nanny state again.
It’s a couple of hot days, enjoy it.
I cannot stand this modern nanny state nonsense.
All this is, is a way of drilling in the doom and gloom climate change fear.
Wish governments would just leave people alone.

As it is in Texas, most of Southern Europe, Australia, Africa etc etc etc.
They just crack on.
It’s a couple of days, we don’t need nanny government suggesting it’s an emergency.

What do you think people do who live in country’s ware it’s that temperature for weeks or months on end ?? We regularly go to the Maldives and Egypt ,with temperatures much higher than that , you just keep hydrated, and stay out if the direct sun as much as possible, it’s not rocket science

It's ok if you want to overthrow the government but maybe wait til Wednesday and when the state of emergency is over.

Some of the people and infrastructure that could be vulnerable might not go to Egypt or the Maldives regularly though.

Saying that, a lot of bookies have air conditioning these days.

Tarmac in this country starts to melt at much lower temperatures that foreign countries due to the fact that we don’t generally get it that hot but I think times will change and they will alter the mixture to raise the melting point but obviously that costs more 😂😂😂 as for buildings they shouldn’t be affected as tolerances are built in for temperature like expansion joints etc especially on bridges . Rail lines there was a bit in the news about problems due to heat but again there shouldn’t be if constructed correctly countries far hotter than us don’t have issues, always makes me laugh when we get an inch of snow everything comes to a grinding halt , we as a country are a laughing stock in Europe ,Scandinavia, and Canada that carry on with feet of the stuff .

Yeah, we have a temperate climate and struggle with extremes.
I'm adapting by drinking cider.

If a fan is a manual reel, air con is like getting an electric one.
You think oh I'll manage then when you get one it's like why didn't I do this years ago.
Same as in the van, driving with the windows down works to an extent but it's not a patch on sitting down eating your lunch with air con on full blast.
One of the best things I've ever bought.

One of the best things I've ever bought.
Just ordered an 'inventor chilly 9000' £300 from Amazon.it should be here by the weekend!3 in 1 (air con,de humidifier and fan)...
All the screwfix units were sold out!
Now you have bought that we will be in the minus temperature scale for the rest of the year 😂😂😂😂

I just shove the dyson fan on and sleep 💤

A fan just blows warm air around....their crap.....air con is the only way to cool a room down comfortably to get a proper nights sleep

Been toying with the idea of getting a Dyson fan, but soooo expensive, do you reckon they're worth it Zesty?

Keeps us cool when sleeping, pretty quiet and works really well, never felt the need for aircon with it 👍🏼

Only the unfit and overweight need aircon daz. ;)
Of course the dyson doesn’t cool the air, that’s not what a fan is designed to do. It is designed to move air over your skin, thus cooling you down.
Hence a nice breeze on a hot day keeps you much cooler than a still day.
Never struggle to sleep when we’ve got the fan on.
-
The trouble I find with aircon is that it dries your throat out. My Mrs has astma and it tends to make her a bit more wheezy than usual. It's still better than not having any when staying in a hot country, but the fan seems to be the way to go for us,especially as the Dyson claims to be so quiet which most air con I've experienced isn't.
-
Fan cools me just fine, waste of money buying Aircon for the odd couple of days we have a heatwave once a year or 2.
-
Some people buy ‘superior’ items because it’s not necessarily the item that improves their lifestyle but simply purchasing something they deem to be better makes them feel better within themselves. Bit like retail therapy but with a higher price tag.
-
I find fans dont do anything when its anything over slightly hot. Certainly when its 25 degrees plus they do naff all. Ive got my fan on right now, its doing its job but its only about 18 degrees just humid.
As for being an unnecessary luxury i disagree, if it improves your comfort and helps you sleep what can be more important than than that. We have it in work vans to make the hot days more bearable its the same thing.
But who cares, let people roll around in bed sweating their nuts off with a fan blowing hot air on them if it makes them happy.
-
Dazmond buying an aircon unit (which will be delivered a week AFTER the heatwave) is the most Dazmond thing I’ve ever read on here ;D ;D ;D

That did make me laugh!

Jokes aside, air con is lovely mate.
We honestly don’t sleep badly in the heat with the dyson on, it keeps us cool.
I’m suprised your hot now though mate? Its pretty cool now. Do you think you need to check with the doc if your hormones are ok?

Yeah air con can defo irritate the throat, I find that on holiday sometimes, you go to bed with it on and then wake up with a dry throat!
Dyson is worth it mate, it’s a really nice air flow, it doesn’t buffet the air, it’s just a nice stream of constant air, we have it on quite low, but it can blow a gale on the highest setting!
-
I have the big upright Dyson they are not like a normal fan 100 times better well worth the 3-400 notes.

You’re gonna get loads of use out of that living in the Manchester area lol, you’d have put the money to better use if you had purchased £300 worth of shares in a Manchester based Umbrella ☔️ making factory 🤣🤣.

Air con in this weather? It’s hardly even worth having the windows open, bunch of wimps ;D

Nah we’re all fine mate, we love it! Absolutely love the warm sunny weather!

We have air conditioning in the car . Don’t want to miss out on it in this weather . So we are gunna put the dog inside put the windows up then go to the pub this aft for a session . No point having it and not using it .
-
House has air conditioning, van has AC and car has AC and cooled seats, wouldn't be without it now,no comparison on hots days like this summer.

Tell me about your house air con. I have an old portable unit which I bought when I was self employed selling stuff from home.
It is sitting on the middle landing vented out of a small window and blowing cold air into the main bedroom.
But I'm interested to hear about more permanent and effective options.
-
We are having it put in this winter.

And I bet there's no AC in the pub. Selfless you, Biggles 👏.

Most of the shops and supermarkets down hear that have air conditioning have it turned off as it’s very expensive to run in the current electric price rise .

Do you get the dog to drive you home?
-
I had to drive to Liverpool yesterday to pick up a passport . 5 hour round trip with no air con. Absolutely horrific 😢
-
I started taking the dog for a walk round Tesco so I could get the benefit of AC. Obviously I had to pretend to be blind and someone stopped when I was looking at the salt content of Walker's Bugles and said "you're not blind and that's not a guide dog".
I just replied "why, what have they given me?" 8)

I have aircon in my truck which doesn't work because a previous owner nicked the condenser.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea when it's ludicrously hot if you're jumping in and out of it all the time?
Did one job yesterday afternoon for 90 minutes at 38c and left the last job until 7:30pm when it was still around 26c but much nicer.
Popped down the beach after that with my son to watch the Moon rise.
We really do live life in the fast lane down here :)

yep , that’s me all over . Just hope there’s no busy bodies walk past the car and decide to smash the window and let the dog out .
