I did 12 years ago when i shattered my ankle, 8 fractures. If you don't have personal insurance, you may need their help? You pay your tax and N.I, so why not if you need it. I wouldn't bother unless it was a long term injury though. Good luck.

Looks like they make it quite difficult for very little.

Yes they always will make it difficult, but if you need help towards housing costs too, its necessary. This help can keep you afloat during your illness/injury.
