For everyone that owns an electric hose reel which one is the best, and also how easy are they to fit
-
Oh I take it no one owns an electric hose reel 🤔

Oh I take it no one owns an electric hose reel 🤔
I have had most of the popular ones and they all have had issues some far more serious than others , but pure freedom and waterworks 3D are the most reliable I have had ,
-
I have the waterworks HD it's been solid.
-
The 3d works fine but the pure freedom is a league above in build quality.
The grippa reel I've not used but I've heard it's slow ?
-
I have had a power up HD and now an Ionics rapido…….the Ionics is absolute quality ? £600 I paid roughly .
-
I've tried two - both of them were pants.
Manual Cox reels for the win.

Pure freedom reelmasters are the best electric hose reels
Really easy to fit...should take you no longer than 30 mins(I've screwed mine down to some chipboard I have at the back of my tank)connect the wires to your battery and away you go....

Why were they pants? I’ve got them in three vans now and the users love them. What was the problem with the ones you tried?
-
Pure freedom, been hassle free.
-
Manual reeling is for fools it’s like condemning 1 faulty item out of 1000s of fantastic inventions that make your life easy.
-
The only time I reel manually is in the garden.

I do quite a lot of manual reeling on the dark side.
-
I had a power up hd 1st was amazing then it broke after 2 years so desided too get another big mistake the button was naff and broke had to order another was reeling it buy handle witch broke after 3 weeks handle arrived was working for 3 months then shaft snaped so went back to normal reel now im considering trying the purefreedom reelmaster
-
I've been looking at one for a while always had a d.i.y one but fancy buying one. Just out of boredom really lol.
Are the 3ds any good or should I just get the pure freedom ? Prices have shot up over the years haven't they over 900 quid now delivered.

My was £450 9 months ago,
£900 is a heck of a price rise
Sure that's not for 2🤔🤔
-
£900 smackers that's nuts :o i payed £500 delivered i don't think there worth £500

Im talking about the pure freedom one, with hose reel and delivered its £942.64 to be exact! 60 quid of that is delivery

i know, i mean im sure they are better than my d.i.y one but it literally cost £50 plus the reel, its a hard purchase lol but they do look very nice
-
When you work out how long they last and make you it’s pennies.
-
Pure Freedom all the way. Had mine 19 months now and not missed a beat. If DIY competant install yourself if not drive up and get PF to install. That's what I did with mine (although I did get a whole system put in) and like another user said it's pennies in the long run.

I've got a 3d one. It's great.

They don't half make life easier in this job, more energy at the end of each working day using electric hosereel. I was convinced I didn't need one for years and then thought, sod it, I'll try one and wow, so much easier.
-
In end I went for the 3d so can't wait 😁😁😁 cheers for the replies 👍

When you work out how long they last and make you it’s pennies.
How long do they last and how much do they make you?

When you work out how long they last and make you it’s pennies.
How long do they last and how much do they make you?
I’ve had my HD reel 6-7 years never replaced the chain and never replaced the motor touch wood,on my work I reel out at least 2/3rds most jobs if I can do an extra couple of jobs at the end of the day because my elbows and shoulders aren’t killing me that’s a lot of money a month trust me.
I looked on their website yesterday and what I want isn’t in stock at the moment, people lumping a stainless reel out of the van each job and plugging in to the side of the van want a serious talking to tbh, madness right there.
-
I’m not paying that for an Extreme pole Whaaaaaat lol,it’s earning you 1000s and 1000s of £££ hundreds of 1000s get a grip for 6-700 notes 🤣
Sit down and work out roughly what these products are earning you year on year they work out pennies to buy if they last even a couple of years,it’s the same with a 9 kw heater for the time they last it’s very little money in the long run.

Can't disagree with that but surely nobody still does that?
Ive had two electric reels and they've both been hopeless.
-
I still see fools doing it m8 on my travels from time to time huge great stainless ionic style reels in and out of the van it’s nuts 🌰,what could be easier at waist height just opening the door and a way you go and push a button to pack up and off you go.
Some people just won’t spend any money still using plastic reels with hoselock fittings water everywhere lol, what’s up with em.
-
When you pull the hose out from an electric reel is there more tension than a manual reel?
Does anyone use reinforced pole hose with an electric reel?
-
No more tension at all you can adjust the tension mines always been on the loosest setting and it’s perfect, crazy people still manual reeling they must have hardly any hose to pull out on each job or they’d think different.
-
You could use pole hose reinforced I can’t see why not I would just use a reducer at the inside of the reel.

Talking about extreme poles I've snapped section 2 today. It's almost a year old, snapped section 1 after 6 weeks.
Now it's got 2 slx sections it's only a matter of time before it becomes an slx.
I do love the poles but thought of shelling out another 700 quid on one 🤔
-
What was the problem?
First one lasted no time before rattling itself to bits, the replacement is better (newer version) but I've had to replace the button twice and the lad that uses it wants to go back to a "proper reel".

Trust me the pure freedom ones arnt any better I have had to send mine back twice and I have a bad clonking noise from one of them now that’s going to have to go back again . There isn’t a single electric reel out there that is perfect , we have had less trouble with the waterworks 3D reels out of all the ones we have had , the worst by far is another famous company I have not spoken to a single person that has had one of their reels and not had major problems with them yet they still maintain there is nothing wrong with them .
-
Honestly I’ve had my HD for well over 5-6 years now it’s got to be and the chains come off multiple times but that’s because the bolts on the front came loose,it’s a godsend imo if it blew up I’d be straight on the phone ordering another.

I don’t think they sell them any more been replaced by the 3D ?? They don’t seam to advertise it on their web site .
-
You can buy the spares for them or you could do they’ve had problems with that plastic reel I’m sure they’ve rectified them by now it’s been out a couple of years.

Daz may be correct on this point
I replaced the red switch with old yellow one £12.50
My mates HD's belt broke, got a replacement free
Mmm
Take ur pick
£450
Or 900 ish😂😂😂
BTW Daz, do you shop at Waitrose and Live in Alderley Edge 🤣
-
Standard PF electric reel is £649 + Vat
I have used a van mounted Hannay reel (similar to Cox) for the last 16 years. I would think most who complain about manual reeling are using cheaper reels. Hannay and Cox are top quality and easier to reel in. Not against electric reels but would be very reluctant to get rid of my Hannay.
-

So with VAT and Del, not far short of £900
Ouch,i say!!!

Hi Jon nice to see you posting again .hope all is well mate...
My pure freedom reelmaster was around £650 including VAT and delivery when I bought mine(nearly 4 years ago now)....Still going strong 💪
Prices have obviously gone up considerably since...
-
I'm good Daz, nice to join this lot of crazy shiners once again.
I'm 65, 1 year to official retirement 😜
Bet u never thought I'd go for an electric reel!! 🤣🤣

The HD doesn’t have a belt it’s chain driven .
-
Sorry my mates 3d
Ive even got the 3d
I just press buttons all day without taking notice of its name
Money well spent so far

Belt snapped on the electric reel.
Replaced it with a Cox.
Wouldn't bother with an electric reel again.
-
Honestly m8 go for the Xline it’s the same as the HD chain driven I wouldn’t buy anything with a belt like 99% of manufacturers they make a great product and replace it with rubbish coz it’s cheap to manufacture.

The New XLine reel doesn't seem to have any overspooling control/tension unless you buy the controller at an additional £180.
I like the look of it but once you add on overspool control and the roller guides to stop hose slipping over the sides it stops looking cheap!
I do prefer the construction of it as I still prefer steel and a drive chain to a plastic reel and a belt but I'm not sure.
Do you have any experience with the new XLine reel?
-
It’s the same as the HD under the bonnet m8 you don’t need the overspooling controller etc just get one with the roller guides, once you’ve been using it for a while you get used to it the speed it reels in at etc the hose guides are a good addition a lot I’ve seen from other manufacturers are over engineered for what we need it for.

You can buy a bolt kit that screws against the drum that acts as an overspooling device to prevent it .
-
Yeah no doubt you can but you don’t need it and certainly not with the roller guides with the Xline one,you can have them top or bottom of the reel.
-

I found the hd would overspool using floor rollers
-
The one I’ve seen on there website is the same as the Waterworks one but has top or bottom roller guides,it looks slightly narrower than the drum so I wouldn’t think it would be too much of a problem.
I have no guides or side protection on the one I have you get used to it I rarely get it going over the side.
-
I have the xline reel it does indeed overspin badly as standard.
You can put a piece of nylon and a screw in the spindle to stop overspin, it does work but ive found it needs re tightening quite often.
Im going to buy the overspin controller for it.
All things considered if you only want one of them you may as well just pay the money and buy a purfreedom one, i went for the xline because i want 2 and i like how you can stack them and of course at 500 inc vat are a fair bit cheaper.
-
The footprint of them I find is perfect also that plastic screw was offered to people that had purchased one previously for free a few years back now, like I say you get used to it I think they are great value.
-
The XLine reel doesn't look like it can have the nylon screw added as the sides go up and over the reel.
If it could be added I might be tempted.
I'm hoping that one of the electric reel manufacturers does a good Black Friday deal ;D

It can it's the same reel as the power up HD but to get to it you have to take the reel apart. Problem is when you want to tighten it. I put a bolt in mine instead of screw and manage to reach it with a socket with an angle adapter. I was going to grind a hole in the side of the housing so you can access it with an Allan key but will probably just buy the overspin controller now.
Like I say if you only want one just buy the pure freedom honestly.

Great info, thanks. I am leaning towards the PF one as although it's not cheap it does look well built plus it gets lots of good comments.
Thanks.
