Hi guys , just wondered how long would you expect the Pure freedom flowmaster digi fm to last ?
Mine is around 2 years old and has not had that much use ,ie used as a back up system.
I have had contact with Pure freedom who said just buy a new one , not built to last like they advertise .
Can you recommend a flow controller which would last?
Thanks
Mike.

In 11 years I have never had one fail from pf. Must be unlucky

Of course PureFreedom will advise that. It's out of its warranty and they want to sell you another.
If you are after another controller with dead end, then Spring are the only manufacturers. They supply the same product to all the WFP suppliers with each suppliers logo and colour scheme.
I would send it back to Spring Europe and get them to identify the fault and repair if required.
With the older V11 controllers, failures were mainly the result of reversed polarity when connecting the battery up and very occasionally, moisture ingress.
One of the local lads has 2 on his van from PF. They are around 17 years old. (He got his 2 man system from PF before I fitted my van system back in 2007.)

Spring v11.

Spring v11.
Would I send it back to Spring to have it repaired, or use that ± £40 toward buying the latest V16? Even with my "repair it when ever you can" mind set, I would probably opt for a new V16 controller.

Spring are excellent and will repair - but check with ian as some older models are now not being repaired

Morning Mike. As the manufacturer Spring does offer and inspection and repair service depending on why the controller has stopped working we repair if we can. As the controller is 2 + years old there is a charge which is from £39.70 + Vat. The process can take 2 + weeks allowing for it being posted back to us, inspection repair and sending it back out. If you would like to do this drop me an email.
In some cases depending on the damage to the PCB the controller might not be economically repairable and buying a new replacement is the better way to go. The New V16 does have a number of differences compared to the V11 and ae still designed and made in the UK with a 2 year return to bases warranty

The V16 is a brilliant controller.
I got one pre-wired to a shurflo on a metal back plate last year from pure freedom. Worked flawlessly so far. I also took the opportunity to replumb with plastic pipe and JG fittings.

I’m probably going to get a new static setup from them next week does anyone have their setup, booster pump with a controller with auto
Shut off etc.
-
Their made in Crowborough East Sussex nearly all those controllers if not all come from them,”Spring”.
I popped down there once they won’t sell at the door it has to go through agents.

I love the v16 controllers I think I now have 4 of them

It's got some cool features, one, which I haven't actually seen documented, is the requirement to hold the on button for a microsecond to turn on. This prevents accidental switch on.👍

I have the new one with the pump on a backplate from PF......works brlliant but what are the new cool features?
-
He reckons I’ll get over a 1000 in about 2-5 hours with a booster pump which will be handy.

There are a number of changes with the V16. It is a new design and PCB using an Arm processor . This has allowed up to improve polarity protection on the power into the controller from the Battery ( Red and Black cables) If these are connected the wrong way round the controller will not switch on. Correct the cables and it will power up as normal
Other changes is the maximum amp rating which on the V16 is 15a (the V11 was 10a)
The V16 can handle a wider rage of pumps
A new Drive stage means that the pump is driven much more efficiently and this can reduce current draw from the battery. In some cases the pump runs quieter

Have a look at the Positive Grid Spark40 amp. Can't praise it enough, never played so much since getting this incredible little box of tricks. 👍😎👌

Hi Ian
Just a question, please. Does the on/off switch cut power to the controller completely? Thanks.
