Just thought I'd chuck this in again.
As some of you may recall I have about 30m of reinforced pole hose and 70m of microbore on my reels so as to reduce the workload on me.
This week I was helping Dan the Man on his domestic work and using his reels which carry only micro bore.
To give an idea of the difference it is like using an extreme over an SLX.
I know many have gone electric but for this old man the reinforced pole hose option makes sense.

I have 100 metres of Exceed pole hose on my reel, been doing it like this for a few years now. I honestly can't see the point in having normal heavy hose on the reel.

I have exactly the same and totally agree.

Exactly the same as me. Been working this way as long as exceed has been producing the pole hose, hose!

I would think pole hose would be more of a trip hazard with 100m out across roads and pavements?
I cant see it laying as flat as microbore

I cant see it laying as flat as microbore
Also, more prone to kink?

Yes that too......this has put me off using anything lighter than microbore....I have bin lorries and all sorts driving over my hose most days! ;D

I wouldn’t feel comfortable using pole hose on the reel due to the increased risk of creating a trip hazard. More chance of it riding up off the ground and scratching car bumpers too.
-
I use 150ft of 10/8mm lay flat silicon hose, lighter than 6mm microlite hose and doesn't kink as easily either, bargain for £65.
-
I tried this once and it was okay-ish.
I quite liked the reinforced pole hose, it was nice and light, easier to reel in manually. More prone to looping and snagging though, and I found it didn’t last as long as microbore.
Then I got an electric reel and the ‘slightly easier to reel in’ benefit was made obsolete.

I was always on the understanding that using pole hose on your reel will knacker your pump up a lot quicker, as it will be working harder having to force the water through a smaller 5mm pole hose diameter?
But if your using 6mm microbore maybe there is not much in it anyway?

I thought that initially too. But it reality it doesn’t.. I’m not sure of the physics but it runs through 2mm jets that’s smaller than any hose. Maybe a pressure debate?
Mine also lays flat, mostly. I put this down to using the tubeless system so when it’s reeled back in any loops or kinks naturally come out.
I rarely run it across roads that are busy and on the odd occasion a bin truck goes over it, it stops the flow for less than a second. Cars running over it doesn’t stop the flow.
Try 30mtres see what you think

with regards to it not laying flat? if using hot or warm water, surely it will lay flat ?
thanks for this thread, Im going to try it ;D

I buy red reinforced pole hose from soap national. It's no cheaper than microbore but it lays just as flat.
It isn't just the reeling in it is also that I can stand at the first turning point and easily hold 30 metres of looped hose before walking off to the back of a property. With microbore it is heavy and not easy to hold in a hand grasp at about 15 metres looped.

Re: trip hazards, I use these cable protection ramps(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1643912690_download.jpeg)
I have 4 of them and they are great..... run them on pavements or straight across roads.
