Post by: Tristan R Clean on January 28, 2022, 05:34:59 pm

I am trading mine in with 16000 miles on

Not surprising, ive been looking for a van for a couple of months. 10-15k gets you nothing at the minute but a high mileage 7 year old dog.

If you are trading yours in, you`ll get more for it but you are paying more to buy another so you aint gaining anything.

Yeah It only really works if you buy a new van…

Traded 11 plate vivaro sportive with 100k on clock battle scarred to death by employees for new one.
It worked out cheaper to get brand new than anything under two years with low mileage. Let’s put it this way second hand vans with max payload were  at least 2k plus vat more expensive in Last November  than main dealers. And you can get 3-5 years warranty should you wish to keep it for longer.

A customer has just sold a new shape Land Rover Defender.
Bought less than a year ago for £47k and he's managed to sell it for around £65k.

The theory is that he sells now and he's ordered another one for 2023 at less than £50k and ends up with a newer truck and some cash.

Strange World we're living in.

Even new prices are up 5/10k on last year.

Not paying 30k for a van that will get abused.

Better than buying another second hand one, given used prices are so much higher relative to new prices.

If I wasn’t renovating our house so shelling out so much dough, I’d have traded mine in for a new van for certain, seems the best time to do it is now!

It's getting a brand new van that's the problem. The dealer may take your order but it doesn't mean they will fulfil the deal.

That's why second hand vans are so high supply and demand.
If you have look on the transit owners group there are loads of people who have had orders pushed back 6 month or more also with the price increase the price the van was ordered for has gone up and the main dealers are  asking for the difference or to cancel the order.

All commercial diesel vehicles without a euro 6 engine will have to pay at least £10 a day just get into manchester from May 30 this year....this includes all the surrounding areas(Oldham,Rochdale,Salford,Urmston sale,Trafford,etc,etc)....

So they ll be an influx of second hand vans on the market that are over 5 years old

There are going to be quite a few new starters give it up and hand their vans back  because they can't afford to buy a new ish van justy starting out. It's going to cripple a lot of traders near retirement age who don't wish to get more credit for work van. Quite a few businesses are relocating outside the CAZ area

I paid £16k for new trafic van 3 years ago

I also got 2 partner vans on 16 plates, these are selling nearly for what I paid for them.

God knows what they are now but I wouldn’t be interested in prices over £25k. I would be more inclined to start looking at an electric van once prices hit a certain point.

Am guna look now see if the partner vans are ulez or compliant with this charge for Manchester.
I have 3 days work from Rochdale down  to chapel en le frith every fortnight so a bit of a bummer, and an employee who lives in south Manchester

I'm sure the partner vans will be OK if they were brand new in 2016..they should have a euro 6 engine fitted...
