Title: Leaks in the van.....
Post by: dazmond on November 15, 2021, 07:08:02 pm
I have spares for almost everything these days wfp wise....apart from these!

This is the state of a rubber disc washer inside a threaded metal fitting coming out of my heater and going into my reel...its never leaked in 4 years though....I've ordered some more but they won't get delivered until tomorrow so ive got a leaking connector which resulted in losing around 50L of water overnight last night! >:(

The water coming out of this connector is scalding hot too in the day time....van floor is wet through....

It's amazing how a perished rubber washer can cause so much aggro!

You need to get the carpets out of the van and dry them out as well as dry out the rear footwells and possibly the front as well. If you don't the van will start to smell of wet and the remaining damp inviting the growth of mould.

Luckily I do have a wet and dry vac... ;D

I don't have carpet in the van and no rear foot wells ...I have rubber mats in the front foot wells

What reel have you got the old style hand crank Reels had those complete rubbish if you use hot water like you do,you want a reel that takes O rings from tank to reel eventually they all leak a bit but not anything like a reel with those.
Cold water users will go years without that part of the reel leaking different with hot.

It's nothing to do with my reel!the knackered rubber washer was in the threaded section of the hot water fitting that comes out of my heater....grippa fitted it!it's lasted nearly 4 years leak free until now....

I had the same van Daz,water got into the footwells and the electrics played up.
There must of been wires under the vinyl or it was just a coincidence.   ;)

Ive had water in the footwells many times over the years in every van ive ever had since I went wfp nearly 12 years ago...if I was gonna have a problem with electrics then it would of happened by now! ;D

It's been a great van.....I've only replaced the 2 front tyres in 5 years  and an oil change annually.....ill probably get the brake pads changed next year....

I'll  get at  least another 10 years out of this van Nigel....
