Title: Scrimble Doblo question
Post by: Mike Burd on November 12, 2021, 07:27:00 pm
Do you get your Doblo’s from a main dealer. I’ll need one in May/June so will probably start looking now. What should I expect to pay for the LWB?

Yes main dealer, ask your local Fiat Professional dealer for a quote, I usually pay around 12-14k plus vat but depends on the spec

According to pictures comes with a free portacabin.

Are these decent vans? What kind of payload? Any known faults with them?

That ones 1.050kg. I seem to hear nothing but recommendations. Soupy has a couple and Scrimble’s got quite a few. Truth be told, swapping because the Peugeot service is horrendous at my local dealership. Have mostly Experts atm.

I used to have a Doblo Maxi, decent enough van apart from the horrendous turning circle.

They have some arriving at the end of the month they said. I’ve ordered one but they’ve changed the trim levels. Called a Trekko or something instead of Technico with some slight upgrades. Apple play for example.

When is expected delivery date?
Looked at a Toyota ProAce City before Christmas and delivery was November 2022 - but was very good price.

So I picked up the Doblo in Chesterfield last week and drove it to straight Grimsby to have it fitted out and a night away from Mrs 8. Nice drive and huge load area. Tons of space for a full size gutter vac.  And alloys!

Yes. Cheaper than a 3 year old Expert they had.

Can you afford to run yours? You’ll have to start charging for conservatories soon. ;D

Out of all the vans I've had, the Two Fiats have been by far, the best!👍

Very nice, I am jealous,

If your going to get roof bars to carry a ladder, get the genuine 3 bars from Fiat, by far the best ones

Very nice

I think it would really upset me though to spend that much on a brand new spanking van and system to hand it over to an employee to abuse.  :o

500l litre? Not too horrific.

What have you installed exactly and roughly what is the cost? If you don’t mind me asking…..

500 litres with a 1,050 payload. Pure Freedom delivery system + electric reel. About £2,800 + VAT inc fitting.

Does not seem to be much in it pricewise betweeen PF and Grippa. Grippa £2350 + VAT for 500l  fitted system (without hose reel).

seems a lot of money doesnt it £2800 plus vat  for what is essentially a tank in a frame.

Ive always thought that about systems they are way overpriced, i mean the grippa one is just a black plastic tank really with a cabinet on the front.

Yes there is a large profit margin.

I think the Grippa tank is better though. Better baffled, lower centre of gravity, inlet/outlet ports and being black impervious to light.

When I first got quotes for van systems there was quite a bit more of a difference between Grippa and Pure Freedom. I don’t have the quotes but Grippa were quite a lot more. Brodex were closer to PF. Besides, my experience is that Grippa provide the worst customer service in the industry.

Re: the price - in my opinion, if you employ you are on safer ground in the event of an accident if you can demonstrate you have a professionally fitted crash tested system.

Looks like a nice neat system and I am sure it will serve you well. I just think it is a shame that PF use wydale tanks, there electric hose reels get good reviews though.
