Just a random one today. We have a customer who is always £150 in credit sometimes more. He pays £15 to have his windows cleaned but started paying a year in advance, and then he still gives us a £50-£100 christmas tip every year. Honestly probably the nicest customer i have ever had on our books.
Another old lady her windows are £16, but she randomly pays us with a cheque for say £80 like every 3 months, so shes well over £100 in credit. Its very random. She is sound in mind.
Finally i have this lady whos windows are £10 for the front. Her husbands business makes pots of money and she stays at home looking after the grandkids living a nice lavish life. She is really nice though. She paid me £40 randomly during last years lockdown because she felt sorry for us having to work with covid going on.
Since then she now randomly just pays me £10 like almost every 2 weeks. We only clean her windows every 4 weeks but her credit just keeps going up and up. I tried to tell her but she was having none of it.
It makes a nice change from the pooe customers who refuse to pay you, or accuse you of not cleaning or even just the ones that take 6 weeks to pay no matter how much you chase them.
What are your best customer payment stories?
:D

I have one. Elderly lady and her husband. (sadly he died of Covid)
The house is among a row of forty semis that I do most of. I charge most of them £15 to £20.
She pays £30. Once her husband came to the door and I said 'look she keeps putting the price up it's getting embarrassing'.
He said 'Yeh well she's bloody nuts but I love her so you' ll just have to accept it.' And he paid £30.00.
Every so often I pass on her gutter cleans to Dan the Man and he charges £125. She paid him £200 despite his protestations.
Every Xmas she gives £50 as a tip.

Upfront payments are fine for credit if that’s what they are. But also I’ve had similar when customer gives you extra and you think it’s a tip but then one day expects freebies because of it.

Had a pressure washing job couple of weeks ago where the customer offered to pay in cash before the job was even started which was £1700 and also to have her sons help in carrying out the work.

Think I’ve only got one,
Nice family, the husband has a very good job in the banking Industry.
Not a huge house, but a it’s in a very posh area, and it’s a Victorian gaff.
Years and years ago when I went to quote it, I said to Jo (the wife) ‘£30 once a month’
She replied ‘call it £40’
I said, honestly, £30 is fine!
She’s paid me £40 every month ever since.
The husband also gave me a £10 tip the one the he’s paid cash.
Good, generous people.
