"Thanks for the quote, please go ahead and arrange a date to commence work. I've got a couple of
neighbours who want similar work done. Maybe we can renegotiate the price now?"

I'd have renegotiated...upwards.

I would have just replied that the price is still the price. Basically they can take it or leave it. I wouldn’t just ignore them.

Can you do mine for x pounds I have 50 houses in my portfolio and I need you to do mine first ……to see if your any good
Look on the drive and see a battered old escort
We have all fallen for that one

Had a neighbour came out whilst I was cleaning and said he already had a window cleaner, but if I could do him a cheap deal on 3 properties (his, his sons and his daughters) I would get them all.
So I said 'You want me to lose money, not just on one property, but all three...you must be joking!

Yes if you all book in on the same day and pay cash up front we might have a deal.

What's wrong with either:
"Thank you if you do manage to find some new customers but I'm afraid we don't offer discounts. We offer a better service than anyone we know and we charge a fair price"
or a more lighthearted
"Sure, just let me know which windows you want me to miss and we'll agree a lower price."
That way you might not lose someone interested enough to ask you for a quote who might be expecting "no" as the answer.

Go knock on all the doors around the house and see if they are actually interested in a window cleaner. ;D

I'm always on the hunt for a bargain, so I can understand when customers are trying the same & try not to let it bother me.
I used to offer a one-off €5 discount each time a regular customer recommended me to a friend and they signed up for regular cleaning. It was a handy way to get a few extra jobs with very little effort and the customer felt like they were getting a reward too.
Incentives for referrals are good - but the standard cleaning price would NEVER go down...

I'm not on here often anymore - just occasional lurking. Mostly in the height of summer when I miss working outdoors & I need to remind myself why i quit cleaning windows. ;D ;D

I had a text back off a customer last week. "I've got a dog". Me thinking 'and'. Then she sends another text back at 10:45pm saying best leave it this time as he's only weeks old. Dumped. She's messed around before.
