Title: BURN OUT
Post by: james peters on July 30, 2021, 09:33:38 am
There was a thread on here a while back, about getting fed up with window cleaning.
this is year 29 for me as a window cleaner, so I know that every few years I will get what feels like BURN OUT.

At the moment I can just about keep up with my window cleaning and I am probably growing by about 3 new customers a week from just internet alone.
I  am turning down  sfg work and passing it on.

I dont take time off to go on holiday, because we tend to do lots of weekends away, so the only time I am completely off is christmas where I take 2 weeks.

Anyhow we  went away last weekend , and on sunday evening I had that dreaded feeling of just really not wanting to return to work.

So I have taken the week off.  some days just watching box sets all day, and shutting the world out.

I have to say it has worked wonders , and I am now raring to get back on monday.

Everyone needs a break. You did the right thing.

With the lockdowns and restrictions etc I think burn out is far more common. We can’t go anywhere so have just kept on working.

I’m not good at “staycations” but we’ve had a few and it’s been great. Shut the work phone off, and recharge.

For me every few months I need a break away from work. Just a few days, then a longer week off a few times in the year.

We all need it.

im off to wales this afternoon with the missus and the dog for the weekend in a friends cottage....ive got 5 days off,and a 2 day week next week...

most weeks i work 20-30 hours and that includes end of day jobs,admin,etc,etc.....usually its a 4 day week for me....

i never reach burn out and get too bored of cleaning because i dont allow myself to work that long and hard these days

ive learnt my lesson after 28 years in this game....

have a great weekend chaps! 8)

Well, I haven't had what  I would call a holiday since last Christmas - and lets be honest Christmas is just a postponement of routine.

Since Covid Ive worked my balls off and amaze myself with the work thats being thrown at me these last few months.

I had a week away in May but was overwhelmed with a debilitating depression. It was all I could do to get up and go out for a walk.

I have two weeks in Canada booked with an old flame from many years ago. I'm hoping it's going to be fun for many reasons  :o ;D :o

I like going where there’s not a football shirt within a 100 miles and a TV 📺 that looks like it should have someone handing out popcorn in front of it 🤣🤣

I've booked 4 nights in Bath at the end of August.

I know it's not Greece, but we might go to a Greek restaurant one evening  ;D

we often stay in a place called laycock about 10 miles from bath . its worth a visit.
lots of period dramas have been filmed there.
the whole village is  owned by the national trust.
highly recomend a visit

Lacocks lovely, make sure you book in at the Abbey beforehand though, if you do go.
Bradford on Avon is another good shout if you’re stopping around Bath.

yes . in that respects i have been succesfull.
I have created a job that is really flexible getting paid what a proffesional  person with a degree would earn
but only working 30 hours a week.

part of my burn out is down to family issues with one of my daughters.
I am lucky that have created a job that gives mne the flexibility to just take time out with no consequenses and no one to answer to
