Always on my old van, i woudlnt was a new vehicle or one you care about as it will scratch but more importantly you are washing off any wax etc so its essentially never protected.

Dont care on my van though its gets knokced about anyway, hoses take paint off back doors

Does pure water wash the wax off ? If yes whys that as its only water

Every Friday I clean my van with a CLX-4 with a Vikan brush rigged up to my system. I wouldn't dare use it on my car though. I do rinse the car off with pure after I've washed it.

I clean my van with wfp flocked brush but i clean car with a spung as its brand new and on pcp so don't want it scratched as we trade in every 3 years want it kept pristine my van gets hammered as its a lwb vivaro lots if lanes with brambles scratching the sides

Yes I use an old sill brush and tap water no need to use pure water.
I did it last week and noticed a few light scratches and some heavier ones cause by brambles, driving down an overgrown drive.
Rubbed them out with toothpaste.
Much cheaper and less aggressive than T Cut.

theres no penalty for a few scratches/swirl marks on paintwork, even a few stone chips are allowed under a leasing companies fair wear and tear guide

Pure Water when it needs to be done quickly - steam / chemical hot wash when it doesn't.

I like to look after my van and car so no wfp or cheap car washes.
Both will ruin your paint work.

Exactly this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. No car washes for me either. If you take pride in the appearance of your vehicle clean it yourself with a wash mitt, using the two bucket method.
If you don’t mind swirl marks all over your paintwork, then by all means use a car wash or wfp.

I rinse over the car with pure water then use a bucket of pure water and Auto Glym wash with a mit, then rinse off with pure.
