just had a customer call up for a front only quote...
I said it would be our minimum charge which is £9 (terrace front only)
she said oh thats more than i was expecting. our last window cleaner only charged £2.50 a clean.
oh i said, what happened to him, he sounds great!?
he killed himself she says...
:o

Charging £2.50 i think i would off myself too!!!!

My usual reply is, " Where's the last guy? "
In this case, it might be a bit unkind.

if they say the last guy was cheap i just say, wow... if he's so cheap you should stick with him?
and then they say well.....

Lol good job she didn’t phone us our minimum price is now £15 😂😂😂😂😂

This was beer money though surely? Is it possible to run a legit business charging like that . Personally I even think 9 sounds super reasonable

Our min is £15 … then one day fellow windie came around who actually resides on a window cleaning forum and he found out that I was talking utter rubbish , and always posted things just make my self look good. all the old lies I told over the years came out .. I went home and shot my self for being the no1 wet speaker

Recently put up our minimum price it was £10 but got talking to a new window cleaner who only started up last year and he has a minimum of £15 and picking up loads of work so I have followed his example , we do have a few oap customers that we do 2 windows and a door for £5-7 as a favour but all new work is now £15 this also weeds out the 2 windows and a door that arnt worth doing

Did you ask who the last guy was ? some people will say anything in the hope that it might save them a few quid, what I will say is when it comes to window cleaning people who haggle seldom make good or loyal customers.

No matter what anyone says or thinks of these charges it can also work for people, I knew of a lad who charged £2 and £3 for front only. he had a good few streets of these terraced houses, a window upstairs and one downstairs and then a front door, he only did fronts, park his van up and could do 30 house fronts in a street in just over an hour no problem, he would have a few roads of these houses and clean up no problem, he was also that cheap no one took his work.
If he lost a house or 5 houses for that matter then it didn't make much difference. you lose a £40 house that takes an hour then it makes a hit on your days money.

Probably took him another hour just to colllect the money in!

collecting took a bit longer than normal but he made it work very well. All I say is don't knock these lower prices, people do them for a reason.

Never underestimate a small amount of money
